@adamboxer1 Thanks for the detailed explanation. Can I ask how much was provided by the school (laptop, pen, stand) and is common across all staff? (I.e. is the use of OneNote common amongst a lot of classrooms at your school and do all classrooms have a similar setup?)

@adamboxer1 Think I would ignore Simon and speak to the whole class. Remind them of expectations/model (e.g we don’t call out, we raise our hands and wait..) then set conditional consequence for everyone (e.g the next person who interrupts by calling out will see me at the end of the lesson)

Ahhh I think this is my new favourite scenario. Super tricky one to deal with. What would you do next?

Not sure I will be able to get this to 80 marks in time so here's some more questions you may wish to try this week.

@missradders For KS3, we inform parents by email for set changes during the year but I don’t for changes that start in September. Allows me to make more logistical decisions to shake up groups and students will have a new timetable and new teacher anyway.

Heads of Maths: do you formally write to parents to confirm their sets for the following academic year in July. We don’t do any kind of formal communication other than to pupils. Wondering if it will cut down on September phone calls?

@DeeVijayan @ECR_Maths @mrsouthernmaths For stats we also save a bit of time by combining year 1 and year 2 probability (Edexcel). Just starting on year 2 content now. Always feel rushed though - not much slack in the system. But if the students are struggling, we need to give them more time I think

@DeeVijayan @ECR_Maths @mrsouthernmaths We do pure followed by applied. 9 lessons a fortnight on a 4/5 split btwn teachers. We condense some of the earlier pure content (gcse crossover) at start of year, test on it, then put in intervention for those who need the support for those key skills early on.

how are year 12 schemes organised between pure and applied? all pure followed by applied? Or Rthey mixed? Year 12s R finding the pace of mechanics quite fast. But there is no time to slow down as won’t finish content in time. Anyone else in this boat? @ECR_Maths @mrsouthernmaths

Everyone knows the old joke: "Why did the chicken cross the road?", but very few people realise why it's funny. Perhaps "to get to the other side" subverts expectation, but really it's a dark play on words about the chicken getting run over and going to "the other side".

@DoWise Thank you for posting. I remember reading “examination day” in school, but no one else I’ve spoken to seems to know it - to the point where I thought I’d imagined it. Going to try using these with my form group.

@JohnRubinstein1 - For “show that” questions, check that your answer actually matches what was given in the question.🤦‍♂️ - If you redo a question, clearly cross out the incorrect work. - mark schemes are how to mark a question, not answer one. Be careful not to over rely on them when revising

@DrStoneMaths Looks good. Thanks for sharing. How do you usually introduce this task? Eg Teach the whole process then students do the worksheet in one go? Teach very little and students discover patterns through the worksheet? Or do the worksheet in stages with whole class feedback in-between?

Just ordered some school pens and got thinking about pen choice. (N.B. This thread is a joke) Elite pen user. Probably a Gemini. Visualiser skills are banging, notes are impeccable, everyone comments on handwriting. Students can actually read the writing.

Rishi Sunk has said that this year's public sector pay awards have been agreed in full but with no new or additional funding to cover them. There is literally no economic sense in this whatsoever. A short thread...
