Yesterday, I intervened in a situation where a kid was being repeatedly harassed by a few other students. I don’t think I will do anything that is more important the rest of the year. Academics are important... but the physical and emotional safety of our kids is more important.

Homework is right when it is accessible and meaningfully. Homework is too often assigned out of obligation as opposed to for purpose. Much like the workplace, students should complete homework if it’s necessary to executing on their obligations in the classroom. #EdutopiaChat

If we want to change how traditional education works and prepare students for a world that does not exist instead of the past, we must be patient. It is much easier to put kids in rows and tell them what they need to know, but this simply does not get them #FutureReady

It’s hard for me to conceive of anything more important than helping a student feel valued. And that’s 1 reason relationships are so important. It is through personal connections that we communicate to them their worth. Our investment in them, tells them they matter. #ASCDCEL
