What influences the gender gap in entrepreneurship in African countries? We ran a survey on stem and bus students in Sierra Leone to find out. We see that female students place most weight on their perceptions of the gap between earnings across options coxtoday.smu.edu/2023/08/31/wom…

New paper by @acck1aus et al looks @ movies that are harmed by piracy, & those that actually benefit from it. If its better to watch a film in the theater then "piracy complements box-office sales". Also, they use "Spectacleness" as a key variable. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…

@JorgeGuzmanCBS I think you'd have to breakdown deaths by age group to make the comparison. High-density, high-risk locations (e.g., nursing homes) are more prepared in TX, having learned from places like NY. Not to mention, NY policy sent covid patients to recover among these vulnerable pop's.

The death rate in COVID booming states (e.g. Texas) is ~2% far lower than New York's ~10%. Anyone's guess how much is due to any of (a) demographics (TX is much younger), (b) better treatment has been learned, (c) lag in deaths, (d) broader testing ?

Huge shout-out to @Mr312 for personalizing biz advice for my @SMUCox Strategy class (e.g., in a crisis, delay key projects & audit marketing messages for appropriateness). Among winners and losers of coronavirus, @BookCameo is def a dark horse winner #ponyup
