@mattyglesias Matt loves a good monopoly and loves to dunk on the other Matt. The sentence right before the highlight is that school phone bans also don’t increase vote share…a policy he supports. Sometimes good policy is good policy and good policies are popular.

@BreeNewsome What? This is an absurd analysis. Crockett ran a shitty campaign and lost whites and Latinos by substantial margins. Foushee accepted pro-Israel help throughout her race and no one voted for Talarico out of anger at Kamala Harris' views on Palestine.

Foushee (NC-4) won by the skin of her teeth b/c she rejected AIPAC money ahead of primary. Crockett (TX-30) lost b/c she didn’t. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Simple as that. Harris lost in ‘24 b/c of Gaza. Her endorsement of Crockett hurt more than it helped. The issue isn’t gender or race, it’s Israel.

That beautiful ending to Trump's SOTU address reminds me why we can't have a second-, third-, or fourth- generation immigrant as president. Love for our country has to be in your genes.

Gail Slater's firing was a long time coming, sources tell @DailyCaller. There were some issues + lost trust between her and Bondi. But two admin officials tell me that it really comes down to the fact that the anti-trust division was ineffective and the president's agenda, like affordability, needs to be accomplished now... not in four years. Still, there were a few things that happened that added to the tense situation, sources told the Caller: -- Slater went on an expensive, unapproved Paris trip that caused the AG to cut off her business cards. -- The admin believed she lied while handling the HPE case, saying she had consulted with the intelligence community on the deal when she hadn't. -- And the final straw, according to some, was that Slater was suspected of leaking, specifically to @semafor who recently published stories about the tensions surrounding the anti-trust division. Lots to unpack: dailycaller.com/2026/02/12/gai…

Two shots. One chaser. Kanter blocked it, Khan celebrated it, Stoller finger wagged about the smart government making dumb entrepreneurs rich. The fawning press machine cheered the victory lap. In the meantime, real wealth is destroyed. It is not too late to learn the lesson.

@mattyglesias How is it, that you're center-left on most things, but when it comes to antitrust you take Bork-ian think tank pablum as the revealed truth? Is being anti-anti-monopoly a considered viewpoint or you're just responding to personal animus from certain people?

There is a pending antitrust case against Amazon. The owner of the Post owns Amazon. He is worth $200bn and could invest in news coverage. Or he can open “Melania” on 1400 screens and shut down good journalism…let’s see if there’s an antitrust settlement soon.
Dylan Byers@DylanByers

NEW: The Washington Post cuts—which could affect up to 300 employees—are culmination of 2-year effort to transform paper. Will Lewis wants to focus on a few core areas—natsec, politics, etc—while all but abandoning topics without adequate demand… including sports. W/ @Ourand_Puck: puck.news/why-the-washin…
