Milton Keynes, United Kingdom – 19 April 2026 While some detractors were engaged in protests, patriotic Zimbabweans in the United Kingdom gathered to celebrate Independence. Cde Patricia Chimombe joined the ZANU PF UK Independence Celebrations in Milton Keynes. The commemorations began at Lancaster House in London, before continuing in Milton Keynes, where Zimbabweans came together to honor 46 years of freedom and sovereignty. UK Ambassador Christian Katsande also joined the celebrations

SAD💔 | Passengers travelling from South Africa to Bulawayo were left stranded after an operation by @ZACConline_ and @Zimra_11 near Makhado.
Officials stopped several buses and checked goods being transported. The buses were first told to go back to Beitbridge, but were later sent to Gwanda for inspection.
Passengers were made to get off while their luggage was searched, and some goods were taken if there were no proper documents.
Many travellers were upset, especially because this happened during Independence Day celebrations. Some said they lost time, money, and important moments, including attending family events and funerals.
Authorities have not yet given an official response, but passengers feel the operation was poorly timed and handled.

To be fair, the person who made this “statue” wasn’t being malicious… it’s just an amateur with a small budget… In his/her mind, he was honouring a HERO… It was not sanctioned or sponsored by the government, could have been a personal initiative by an amateur artist…

🔴Matabeleland South Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Albert Nguluvhe says the hideous and monstrous statue of Zimbabwe's founding liberation struggle movement leader Joshua Nkomo mysteriously erected in Maphisa, just over 100km south of Bulawayo, head of today national Independence Day commemorations there was removed "because it wasn't approved or installed with government's approval".
"We don't even know who had built and erected it there. It was put there at night. That's why it was removed."
