🟣Congratulations to our very own legend, @VusaMkhaya, who is the inaugural recipient of the prestigious Willi-Resetarits-Preis - an award established by the city of Vienna in tribute to the legendary Wilhelm (Willi) Resetarits. Resetarits was an Austrian singer, comedian and human rights activist who passed away on 24 April 2022. Established in 2023, the award recognizes outstanding individuals who use their talents to effect positive change. It is therefore no surprise that Vusa Mkhaya, a singer, songwriter, music producer, cultural activist and artistic director, was bestowed with this honour. Mkhaya hails from Tshabalala township in Bulawayo. Driven by an unquenchable thirst for the greatness of sound, he has worked with a wide range of musicians and productions amassing a hugely impressive body of work. Vusa has pushed the boundaries of world music retaining a mind-bending, soul-searching, spiritually; stirring sound that is inspired by life’s questions. The award ceremony took place last night at the Flüchtlingsball in Vienna, Austria. Through his artistic distinction, he has made Zimbabwe proud and we celebrate him! #Retweet #TeamZimbabwe🇿🇼

According to John Riber, Neria, the Zimbabwean classic, was hugely successful in Zim but not in the rest of Africa. It grossed about $100 000 in Zimbabwe. And about $20 000 the rest of Africa.
