TL;DR: Supplying @exileseven02 and his team doing high-risk search and rescue after russian strikes in Kyiv means that civilians get the medical help they need without depriving the front line of help *they* need. Writes Exile: We are a mixed group of soldiers from the armed and intelligence services along with a couple of civilian nurses who are working as a rapid response team to strikes in Kyiv during our time off, we do high risk urban search and rescue in unsecured scenes, medical evacuation, and assist firefighting efforts. My team specializes in being first on site where possible, responding to areas deemed too dangerous by other first response due to risk of secondary strikes of collapses. As such our need for critical trauma care items, particularly burn dressings, is very high. Where in our normal front line work we expect to treat one or two wounded at a time, here it may be an apartment block full of them all at once. We are completely self funded and use our own equipment, including what we normally reserve for front line operations, but right now it's needed here as civilians are under fire on a nightly basis. Any and all help with alleviating our critical supply burden is very, very appreciated!

Pay close attention to the foolish clowns on Twitter who are about to start claiming that the protests in Kyiv are happening because “the people want Ukraine to surrender to Russia” or some other absurd nonsense. The people of Ukraine are out on the streets right now to oppose the dismissal of a popular and effective Minister of Defense, a reformer who has been fighting corruption and inefficiency in the country’s wartime defense establishment. Anyone trying to pass black off as white is treating you like an idiot. They are lying to you, plain and simple.

❗️Fedorov: The Ukrainian people did not come out for a specific minister named Fedorov. The Ukrainian people came out because, when the initiative was seized on the battlefield and in the sky, the trajectory was broken. The Ukrainian people can sense when something is not being done on the basis of the values cultivated here. “I don’t need the position of Minister of Defense in order to be the Minister of Defense. I need the position of Minister of Defense in order to win the war. In the current setup where Syrskyi is the Commander-in-Chief, I don’t see how this can be done.”

It's difficult for me to remember the last time I didn't feel emotionally exhausted. Seven...eight years ago? It certainly hasn't gotten any easier over the past four and a half. Around six years ago, I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder. I've come a LONG way thanks to an amazing therapist, finding the right dose, and doing the work. But still, even on my best days, my heart feels heavy. Currently, the simplest explanation is likely "the war." A lot of people - including some Ukrainians - have a difficult time understanding why I've chosen to put myself through all of this. The thing is, I didn't CHOOSE it. When I joined the Peace Corps in 2010, I didn't have a say in where I served. I lived there, I loved there. For me, it's this simple: 1) when the safety and lives of people you care about are at risk, 2) when you understand how this war affects your own country, and 3) when you have the opportunity and platform to help - you DO it. Even at your own expense. I used to believe that most people would do the same, but I've since witnessed how unbelievably depraved and selfish humans can be (both here and abroad), followed by apathy from so many others. I imagine that accounts for some of the weight in my chest I mentioned previously. Recently, stepping away to spend more time outdoors has been really helpful, especially when technology isn't accessible. I've raised an incredible amount of money for humanitarian aid almost exclusively through social media. Unfortunately, that's required me to be tethered to my phone and the internet. Messages, including requests for help and difficult news from friends or the frontline units I support, never stop. When I get overwhelmed by those, I inevitably fall behind on regular messages from friends here at home, too. I'm sure you can imagine how emotionally taxing it is watching it all pile up and anticipating what those messages contain. So, if you've recently messaged me and haven't heard back yet, I know and I'm sorry. I'm traveling a bit this month, so I'm doing my best to get back to everyone when I can.
