Today, the National Academy of Inventors released their rankings of American universities with the most U.S. patents. UC once again dominates the list. In 2025 alone, the @UofCalifornia was awarded 571 patents—280 more than the second-place institution in the NAI rankings.

As the leading public university in the world, UC is especially well-positioned to row toward access and excellence, and away from exclusion. And we have. But we need to row harder. I wrote on Substack about the need to expand the opportunity for more students to earn a UC degree — and the importance of ensuring graduates stay connected with UC.

.@UofCalifornia PRIME programs go beyond the standard medical education curriculum. With 10 programs across California, each one is tailored to address the unique health needs of the surrounding community – creating a local focus with a statewide impact.

Also thanks to Sumiko Hong for yesterday's wonderful tour of @UCDAggieSquare. It's a remarkable investment by @ucdavis and its partners, helping to lead the way in California's innovation economy.
