Here’s how to break the chain: 1. Turn consumption into a scheduled activity, not a default behavior If you don’t control when you use your phone, it will control you. Set specific windows for social media, outside of those, it’s off. 2. Separate creation from distraction Use your phone as a tool to produce, not consume. If you open an app, it should be to post, reply, or execute, not doom scrolling. 3. Create friction on purpose Delete the most addictive apps or log out after each use. Yes, it takes time to always login. I use X web and not mobile (6 months of the year) when I need to focus. Make distraction inconvenient again. 4. Protect your first 2–3 hours daily No phone in the morning. That’s your highest-leverage thinking time. Don’t donate it to algorithms. 5. Redefine what “work” feels like The next level of your life will feel quieter, slower, and sometimes even boring. That’s not a problem that’s focus. Your phone isn’t the enemy.
