Just watched @TrevorPTweets and @bbclaurak interview Liz Kendall about Starmer, Robbins etc. The difference was striking. Trevor P's interview was forensic and detailed, responding to her answers with specific and relevant follow-ups. Laura K's was a brief chat, with generic questions, before swiftly moving on to talking about AI and social media.

@AllyFogg They’re being trained to do this, several ministers have done the same

@PeterStefanovi2 Using the trauma of abused children and women as a dead cat to distract from the thrust of the interview, because she's failing and floundering, is a new low. Didn't think I could hater her more.

@PeterStefanovi2 The quality of our MPs now is so, so dire. The average director or VP at a Fortune 500 company would be fired for such a performance in a meeting or public event

I'll be honest - I didn't think they were capable of conceiving of something like this in the 18th century

On Second Thought, @Casey Neistat calls out what he sees as a double standard when it comes to criticizing Israel: “The idea that a country is simply reduced to what its leadership is doing at any given time—and that’s an excuse to attack the entire country—that’s not a standard we hold any other country to. And much like the United States, you should be able to criticize what a country does and still love it. That’s how I feel about Israel.”

@powerbottomdad1 There are two kinds of actions taken based on “actionable insights™️”: 1) the action they were going to do anyway but can now post-hoc rationalise 2) a catastrophically stupid decision by committee

Downing Street says neither the PM or the then foreign secretary David Lammy knew that Peter Mandelson failed security vetting to be US ambassador till a few days ago. Sources say they are incandescent that they were not told. The clear implication is that the permanent under secretary at the foreign office Olly Robbins over-ruled the vetting recommendation and never told ministers. If that is right, and no official is denying that, it is impossible to see how he keeps his job

@AllyFogg Oh it’s quite obvious. He just decided, completely of his own volition, to torpedo his own career permanently. Duh.

To spell it out: if Olly Robbins was not following instructions from Starmer at No10 & was not following instructions from Lammy at FCO, who *was* he following instructions from?
