@mckinneytweets Wait a minute. So someone applying through their unmarried British dad and German mom has to register, submit biometrics, pay & attend a citizenship ceremony. But now if they apply through their German mom it's a simple passport application? How does that make any sense?

The British Nationality (Regularisation of Past Practice) Act 2023 received royal assent today and is now on the statute book. legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2023/27/… It only took about five weeks to pass through all stages in Parliament.

What's also interesting in the history of media representation & coverage of the #WindrushScandal is that when told about the issue circa 2015, the couple leading Black led publications didn't think it was a story, & were still way off the mark when it broke publicly in 2018.
