Imagine a tech conference having no CFP, as they reach out to speakers directly. They successfully attract some of the most heavy hitter men speakers in tech, and 3 women speakers. Now imagine my surprise that 2 of those women are FAKE profiles. They do not exist. Nada.

@nebulousflynn 💔 I'm so sorry to hear this, Tom. You are a total rockstar and built something fantastic for Sketchfab AND the cultural heritage community. Obviously, Epic Games has no idea how to measure how valuable you are, or the program is. I've been there too, and IT SUCKS. Sending ❤️

Sad to say that, just shy of 7 years at Sketchfab, I'm part of the Epic Games layoffs. Not sure what's next for me / what it means the cultural heritage program, but for now I'm just letting it sink in. Any suggestions for remote work related to 3D + museum-y stuff welcome 🙏

Hey digital/web archiving folks - is any organisation taking a systematic copy of the entirety of YouTube? (under non print legal deposit frameworks?)

So my perspective on 'I need to add more text to my slides because people are going to need to read these slides later' is that people should create one version of slides for presenting and something else for reading. Thoughts?

It’s sad to see the wheels come off here, re cull of pre-2014 media files. I’m archived/backed up, but this is what happens when we treat free, commercial information infrastructure as archives. We must find better ways to provide digital social infrastructure. Capitalism sucks.
