All week the U.S. has struck Iranian boats it said were laying mines in Hormuz, and USNAVCENT just warned it would target any vessel doing so. Now a suspected mine has surfaced in the waters of Oman, the neutral state caught between Iran's claim to manage the strait and Washington's pressure on Muscat. 🇮🇷🇴🇲 That object floating off the Omani coast is almost certainly an Iranian Mahan 3, a 300-kilogram moored mine with acoustic sensors that detects passing ships by their sound signature. Iran has been deploying them across the Strait since March alongside the Mahan 7 limpet mine, which sits on the seabed and waits. Trump's deal says Iran clears every single one of these.
