@Evertxn Prices of gas and petrol are determined globally It won’t make a difference price-wise. It might help with power cuts. I don’t think it’ll help reduce LNG purchases due to political factors. Long term it’s not good. Should go with nuclear + renewables now

The Jackdaw gas field is owned by Shell, and the yields will be sold at open market prices. Unless there's an arrangement that gives the UK first dibs on gas at a preferential price, this doesn't actually solve anything. Total capitulation to the fossil fuel lobby.
