Finding time to work on it in the midst of larger projects is probably the biggest hurdle. There are still some features that I was already planning to implement, and some others that have been suggested through initial feedback. However, I feel as though I'm running out of time to release my main project, so my focus needs to be put there for the next several weeks.

@ulix_ai "Seamlessly request API keys and environment variables in your Python apps without ever touching the user's disk." Sounds interesting. What's the biggest hurdle you're facing with your product at the moment?

@bihamrillah_ex I'll definitely be sharing this with Reddit very soon! I'm hoping to get a bit of feedback from the X community first and make any improvements before sharing it with a larger audience 😀

@ulix_ai You should definitely consider sharing this with Reddit dev and AI communities too. People there care a lot about local security, privacy, and BYOK workflows, especially for AI tools 🚀 Or have you tried using Reddit before?

Hey devs! Let's connect! Drop what you're working on!😃 ulix.ai/lanyard I just released my side project, Lanyard. Free, open-source, secure OS-managed local storage for API Keys, Recovery Codes, License Keys, Passwords, Environment Variables, and Key Pairs (you can generate them in-app, too). I designed it to support the greater Bring Your Own Key ecosystem by creating a python library that can access keys on the fly with approval, keeping the transaction on a local port and in memory. Clone the client app repo, pip install lanyard, and add Lanyard support to your BYOK AI apps today! github.com/ulixai/lanyard github.com/ulixai/lanyard… pypi.org/project/lanyar…

@ulix_ai @foxtomb232 That is the right boundary. The bit I'd add is lease expiry plus a visible read log per app. If a local key store cannot answer who read this secret, through which grant, and when did it expire, it eventually becomes a nicer .env drawer.

@ulix_ai This is a smart direction, especially with more AI apps moving toward BYOK workflows. Tools like this usually get strong attention in developer and AI communities where people already care about privacy, local control, and secure key management 🚀 Interested to know more?

That's exactly why I built it! 12 clones over the last few days but no stars or feedback. That's okay! It's just a little project that I worked on in the midst of larger projects simply because I wanted it for myself. There's still much that could be done with it, but I also didn't want to keep it under my rock anymore.

@ulix_ai @JonBuildsHQ Local OS-managed key storage without cloud dependency is actually what developers want but nobody builds. How's the early traction looking?
