Enjoying the first day of our Bee Safari to Western Uganda, with a warm welcome from the @TUNADO_Bees team. Looking forward to the sights and experiences of this amazing country, and visiting some of the projects that help people and bees over the next ten days.

In Hive Mind this month, we looked at the naming of bees -- and that led on to the naming of people. Who do you know with a name appropriate for #beekeeping?

Very cold tonight with wintry showers in the North. The Southern half of the country will see patchy rain, sleet and snow for a time clearing again before dawn. The snow will be mainly on hills here, but possibly at some lower levels too as it clears away.

In 1996 it was discovered bees have tiny, tornado-like airflows that form on the front edges of their wings, known as leading edge vortices (LEVs). This allow them to angle their wings more sharply toward the sky, improving the flow of air and helping them rise. #WeLoveBees
