I only use scales. As it's more accurate and precise and has less dishes. I use a digital "coffee scale". These are affordable and precise.
But there is a reason why the US uses cups.
Recipes in the US began using standardized "cups" (along with teaspoons and tablespoons) as a precise volume measurement in the late 1890s, with Fannie Farmer's 1896 Boston Cooking-School Cook Book. Prior to this recipes did not use standardized units.
France introduced the metric system in 1799 . In the mid to late 1800s metric units started being used in recipes Europe.
So these introductions are not far apart. In the US they preferred cups as scales were expensive back then.
Now you can buy scales very cheaply. But recipes are passed on to the next generation and people don't like to change.
@ultimatesonic07@Nebulai@RespectfulMemes 1 US cup is 236.588237 ml
1 metric cup is 250ml
I don't understand why metric people would use cups when you can use ml or grams.
@ultimatesonic07@Nebulai@RespectfulMemes Hardly any American recipe says "US cup".
But if you download a recipe you don't know what country it was made in. So it becomes ambiguous.
@fctsMttrLsShttr@Nebulai@RespectfulMemes yeah when it says a cup of it means always meants 250ml and the spoon is always the normal spoon unless it specifies wich one...
@ultimatesonic07@Nebulai@RespectfulMemes There are tons of different sizes of cups and spoons
and when you use them you have more dishes.
Sith a scale you just put the bowl on the scale and add all the ingredients. No dishes.
