What happens next is anyone's guess.
After this new law of giving half wealth in case of divorce, men here like in the west will stop marrying. They would rather keep girlfriends than wives.
Don't be surprised. This has happened in the west where instead of marrying, live in relations have become the norm because who will work their a££ off for someone who can just take it all away due to greed or some 'inspiring' TV show or malicious advices from 'friends' or coworkers.
So they stopped marrying.
And western women choose to come to Pakistan to marry a man. Where they know man won't be insecure and be sure that the lady will remain with him and not just snatch his hard work away and leave anytime.
But with this new law, Pakistani men would become insecure in marriages. They would think twice, thrice and more before marrying. Already marriages here have become difficult for women who are aging at homes single.
With this new law, where will our women go to get married? Kenya? Somalia? Where?

Landmark judgement by Islamabad High Court. Assets acquired post matrimony are to be divided equitably and not based on who earned them. Men can no longer spend twenty years with a woman supporting their career and then ditch her when rich and marry wife # 2 without consequences The UX around nikahnama and the actual nikah ceremony is problematic. There is too much pressure on the bride to just say yes and sign. Nikahnama should have all clauses standardized. All should be accepted. And lawyers of each side should see and approve before nikah so that the girl knows what she is signing after getting qualified advice.
