@JulienceUK I disagree on one point in particular: Indie isn't a genre. It encompasses all genres. It's a community of people sharing their music with the world without corporate interference. It might be rock, pop, EDM, folk or even house funk. Indie is a mindset and it is for everybody.

We've been calling genres "sounds" when they're really just tribes. Rock isn't a guitar tone. Pop isn't a production style. Punk isn't three chords. They're communities. Identities. People you imagine nodding along. When someone says "that's pop," they're not describing the music-they're describing who they think it's for. Same with indie. Same with EDM. Same with folk. We don't label songs by what they sound like. We label them by whose playlist we think they belong on.
