I know how hard it is to get it right when putting ML in a product so I don't enjoy throwing twitter under the bus here, but this is what bias in ML is all about

@fnord2vec That’s a big issue, folks not trained to recognize the use cases where it could apply within their own walls. Will there be a future where there’s an incentive for companies to hire an external, hopefully somewhat objective, fairness/algo bias auditing firm?

I was at a tensorflow developer summit last year w/ a lot of companies you've probably heard of, and when the fairness/algo bias team at Google finished their road map, they polled the room to ask if their tools would be useful for anyone. Only me and a couple others raised hands
