‘Friend or Foe?’ is a fast-paced thriller set largely in south-west Scotland during World War Two. Galloway House near Garlieston in Galloway served as a hospital during the war and features in the book. Available as a paperback, Kindle, Kobo or Apple: kenlussey.com/fof/index.html

It is fair to say that here are still some rather substantial depths of snow present in the Cairngorms… Note the figure in the background. 📷 Paul Phillips

East Linton, East Lothian, Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 East Linton is a historic village in East Lothian sitting on the River Tyne. It has attractive old stone buildings with a Victorian fountain right in the centre of town, while the river runs alongside offering good walks along its banks - a nice peaceful spot that gives easy access to the surrounding East Lothian countryside. Just on the edge of the village stands Preston Mill, one of the most distinctive watermills in Scotland. The mill has been on this site since the 16th century and the current buildings date from the 18th century. It’s been looked after by the National Trust for Scotland since 1950 & it kept producing oatmeal right up until 1959, making it the last working watermill in East Lothian.

1. Eas Fors Waterfall on the Isle of Mull, Pendle Hill in Lancashire, and Bredon Hill in Worcestershire all have something very unusual in common: they are all tautological place names. To put it another way, their names are triply redundant. Still unsure? 1.

The enigmatic 1.5m high Raasay Pictish symbol stone, standing beside a road on the island of Raasay and one of only a few Pictish stones to have been found in western Scotland. It is believed to have been carved between 650 and 700. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/raasay/pictish…
