She also delivered a clear message to Premier Ford and Minister Calandra:   Do not waste our members' time.  Do not waste students' time.  Do not waste parents' time.   Write the regulation.  Get to the table.  Let bargaining begin.

@ESL_fairy My mom regularly had her skirt length measured. She had to resign when she became pregnant with me. She also made considerably less than my father, for doing the same job. The last two points had lifelong financial implications.

It was commonplace for women teachers to be forced to resign once they were married or became visibly pregnant up until the 1970’s. My English teacher in high school told me she was not allowed to wear pants to work when she started teaching in the 1970’s.

Education is the great equalizer. Maximizing access is the foundation of a strong society. Policies that support access for only the privileged few hurts us all. We waste human potential. Ontario should be a) properly funding education and b) increasing OSAP, not reducing it.
