This is the sound of modern punk to me now, the same way Surfer Rosa is the sound of late 80s/early 90s punk.

Not the album anyone is gonna bring up but one of the most influential, DIY style indie punk albums I got into as a teen was Nursing Home by Let's Wrestle. Without it I'm not sure I'd have gotten into Radiator Hospital or Car Seat, the two bands that made me want to make a band.

Goddammit. Albini. this sucks. listening to his records and reading about his approach to recording really shifted my perspective. Seeing Shellac at Turner Hall like a day or two before Covid shut everything down was one of the loudest, most cathartic concerts I’ve ever seen. ⚡️
