We cannot talk of achieving: “A transformed Ugandan society from a peasant to a modern prosperous country” without a strong education system and a critical mass of dedicated teaching staff. As Government, we have implemented a number of policy interventions with the aim of improving access to education and enhancing the quality of learning in our educational institutions.

As we honored some of the most outstanding architects of our nation’s future, "Teachers Making a Difference" has played a vital role in celebrating and honoring teachers who go beyond their professional responsibilities in service to their communities. This program reinforces the value of innovation and commitment in the teaching profession. I use the word "architects" because, as teachers, you are the foundation of our education system and key pillars in shaping the citizens Uganda needs for the development of a prosperous nation.

We cannot talk of achieving 'a transformed Ugandan society from a peasant to a modern prosperous country' without a strong education system and a critical mass of dedicated teaching staff.

The State House Education desk has warned Head teachers of Government-aided schools against charging illegal fees, saying operations to arrest culprits have kicked off. Jimmy Nambiro, the Private Secretary to the President in charge of Education, said his office is actively enforcing the President Yoweri Museveni's directive banning extra charges in schools offering Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE). #OpenGovUg
