@shellular_phone I'm shitting on Strive. That aside, I personally don't think GB is that interesting, and the limited combo system really holds it back and forcefully boxes it in. I also think the characters look boring, and just cuz the graphics look nice, doesn't mean they have good designs.

for the record i'm pro-simple input *options* for controls, but i would just like to point out one of these games has been out for longer, had more support over the years, has had simple inputs since launch, and has never been nearly as popular as the other

@superkooldud @Rafaknight_rk It still requires different items and still is not based on Super. You don't need to go Super for Hyper. Hyper Knuckles is proof of that. Also, the SE are not canon. You don't need them for the true end of STH3. Frontiers makes it canon in the alt route and undermines Super.

@unserioustense @Rafaknight_rk Actually, Hyper Sonic would be exactly what you’re describing SS2 to be no? It literally *upgrades* the chaos emeralds. SS2 has narrative weight, and makes sense for the story. Hyper Sonic is genuinely just there for another reason to collect the emeralds

It sucks to see how they have slowly been changing aspects of the Sonic IP to be way more bland after the movies. I really dislike how Sonic now is just the Flash, not only because of the electricity, but because of the "stop time POV gimmick" too. Before Sonic used to be fast, but he was like a running canon ball. In a way he's supposed to be more like the Juggernaut instead of the Flash when he starts running, he's interesting as a unstoppable force rather than a speedster. Sure he had some quick reaction to things, but he still could get caught by surprise by things. That's like the entire premise of the Unleashed intro for example, he gets caught by things twice on the intro. The idea of making so he basically freezes time from his perspective completely removes what makes him interesting a lot of the times, besides making him look like "oh it's just another character copying the X-men movie scene thing yet again". It's quite annoying to see because he had this unique thing, which has been slowly stripped away just to be another Flash clone. And don't even get me started on Super Sonic. The thing that started as a Dragon Ball reference, that then started to move towards becaming it's own unique thing, and now just went back into being a Super Sayian clone yet again with the Super Sonic 2 nonsense.

@superkooldud @Rafaknight_rk Doesn't change the fact it's based on Super. Hyper's different cuz it requires other items. It's DBZ shit but at least it's different. If SS2 was like DS, EX and a separate form, fine, but then it makes no sense in a story with the emeralds present AND being an active plot point.
