Many people out there have no idea how university rankings work and how easy it is for ill-regulated universities to manipulate and rank highly to dupe the unsuspecting public. This is actually done by some Ugandan universities. Ask the professors there, they’ll tell you the tricks used. That’s why the public is confused why some universities that compromise a lot on quality rank highly, while some of those that are known for sticking to the right thing rank lower. In a corrupt environment, anything goes and otherwise good initiatives lose meaning. Ironically, National Council of Higher Education is aware of all we are talking about.

Stastistics can be persuasive and misleading; People usually say everyone who goes to Kiruddu NRH dies; that the hospital has a low survival rate compared to the private hospitals. But forget that most patients that go to kiruddu are referrals; terminally ill, patients in very poor condition that other hospitals have failed to manage & mismanaged patients. Your hospital might have a high survival rate simply because it receives more of good health patients and it is poor at managing terminally ill patients. So be careful when choosing a hospital to go to..! Some hospitals are just good at managing cough and flu.

Thanks friends for standing with me at every moment of persecution in the course of our public interest work. It means a lot. With the general public on our side, I know that the oppressors can only win the small battles but not the war. They can win cases, but not the cause. No weapon shaped against public interest can prosper. Ultimately, they lose more than they would have lost if they simply addressed the issues. The choice is theirs. Meanwhile, in the near future, I’m starting campaign “DON’T FEED THE GREEDY GIRAFFE”. As students apply for higher education in this period, let us actively advertise universities that care about quality and wellbeing of students and staff, and de-campaign those that simply believe in making money while using ‘might’ and impunity.

We need to agree on this. It’s inappropriate to join someone’s table at a restaurant without their invitation. If someone is seated alone, respect their space. They may be processing something. People are dealing with a lot!
