‼️✊🏻🔱 I can be the fiercest supporter and also the harshest critic! Here, I shall be the latter despite being strongly in favour of learning new languages!
@Tejasvi_Surya - here’s why your tweet below crosses several lines that you as a BJP-MP should be strictly mindful of!
1. Your attempts and tweets like the one below appear to be a clear indication of you trying to enforce a change to the Constitution with an objective of MANDATING Kannada in Karnataka across sectors and businesses - YES?
2. NO section/clause/article under our Constitution MANDATES the adoption of Kannada as THE language of communication in Karnataka - be it for Banking industry sector or otherwise - YES? So, on WHAT grounds are you imposing and mandating the language?
3. As for the @TheOfficialSBI enterprise-wide operating principles, the bank follows Article 343 (1) & (2) of the Constitution, officially recognising Hindi and English as the language of communication- applies within the entities and externally with customers - YES?
You hold NO right to over-step a state bank’s policy and operating principles - YES?
4. Employees of state banks are often transferred and therefore, with NO mandatory language training - offered either by the new state of service, or by the bank - you CANNOT, under ANY LEGAL circumstances mandate and impose a language onto the employees - YES?
5. You, being a BJP-MP, are threatening action against an @TheOfficialSBI employee for her conduct in the video - what gives you this as a LEGAL right to call for action against a bank’s employee?
The last time we checked, you’ve NEVER held ANY experience whatsoever in BANKING - YES?
6. As asked previously, how come you fall short of guts and your performative grandstanding when it comes to mandating Kannada for foreign investors and global businesses scaling their operations in Karnataka? Any reason?
7. As mentioned previously, you being in politics and public service, keep your arrogance to flaunt against the opposition, and NOT against common people!
@narendramodi @AmitShah @JPNadda @rajnathsingh - irrespective of whether Kannada gets mandated in Karnataka or not, such conduct from a BJP-MP must not go unchecked!

When you come to India’s northern states:
Don’t know Hindi?
No problem… we’ll speak in English.
Don’t know English?
Still not an issue… we’ll use Google Translate.
But one thing is clear:
you won’t be bullied for not knowing Dogri, Haryanvi, Punjabi, Himachali, Hindi, or any other regional language.
Because here, language is a bridge… not a weapon.

Do RCB players know Kannada? No. Are they representing Karnataka? Yes.
But nobody will harass cricketers for not knowing even a few words of the language. Nobody will ask them to leave the league. But sure torture bank employees & vegetable vendors for not knowing the language.

@mujifren Probably you have never lived or even seen the struggles people go through in the villages, they live on very less pay & you expect them to banks in urban area JUST looking for someone to speak in Kannada! Sheer IGNORANCE!!!

She is speaking in English, it means she would have been ready to help him in English
It's a national bank, minimum requirement of English is fulfilled
He was not looking merely for service, which he would have gotten from clerical staff who are local and would have talked with him in Kannada
This guy walked into Assistant Manager Cabin, who are drawn from national cadre and transferred every 3 years, and demanded to be served in Kannada, ready with a camera
Similarly, Will Kannadiga PO serving elsewhere learn the local language in 2-3 years?
And if the itch is so strong, Why not go to Urban Cooperative or Regional Banks where all staff are drawn from local cadres and would help you in Kannada?
Why not accept the fact he is a political party worker tasked with going to these establishments and get outrageous footage?

This behaviour by @TheOfficialSBI Branch Manager is simply not acceptable. If you are doing customer interface work in Karnataka, especially in a sector like banking , it is important to communicate to customers in the language they know. Being adamant like this is simply not right. I have time and again raised this issue of mandatorily posting local staff or staff who know the local language in banking operations, both inside and outside Parliament. Just a few weeks ago, at a Public Accounts Committee meeting, I had raised this issue to the DFS Secretary who assured me action will be taken to follow a office notification that makes this requirement of local language knowledge compulsory. Looks like this still isn’t being enforced properly. I urge the concerned at @TheOfficialSBI to immediately implement the DFS policy that mandates local language requirement. I have spoken to concerned authorities to take action against this manager who has behaved in this manner. Banks working in Karnataka should serve customers in Kannada. Period.

I am from Anekal, where most people with bank accounts come from nearby rural areas and often cannot speak English or Hindi. Many times,I have assisted with translations. The best solution to this issue is to change the recruiting process and hire locals to prevent such instances

@Tejasvi_Surya @TheOfficialSBI I am from Anekal & most banks there have managers who can’t speak Kannada, Anekal is a small town where people from neighbouring villages have their bank accounts, they can’t speak English & I have seen them struggling to raise their concerns!
