New UK screen time rules just dropped — and they’re stricter than most parents expected. From 27 March 2026, England says: zero solo screens for under-2s (except quick video calls with family), and max one hour a day for 2–5 year olds — no screens at meals or the hour before bed. Co-view everything, stick to slow-paced content, and ditch fast social-media clips and AI toys completely. The science is sobering: toddlers’ brains process info up to 10 times slower than adults. Fast-paced screens push them into fight-or-flight mode — racing heart, surging energy — while they’re sitting still. Researchers at the University of East London say this mismatch can wire kids for more tantrums and emotional struggles later. Using screens to calm meltdowns? It often backfires long-term. As a parent, it’s brutal — we all know that explosion the second you take the tablet away. But this feels like evidence finally catching up with what our gut has been telling us. How are you handling screens with little ones — strict limits, co-viewing, or mostly winging it?

Women yap a lot when they really like you, and I find it so cute. When they’re with you, they just keep talking about the most random things. Then you’re there, smiling, listening, and adding to the gist to make her yap even more. And then she catches herself mid-yap and says, “Am I talking too much?” No, my baby, you are not. You’re so cute, keep yapping, I’m your listener 😂❤️

@tobyasky So what if I had already signed a contract that states otherwise. Does it render that part of the contract null and void?

Let me summarise for you guys. As a tenant, you can leave anytime you want, nothing like 12 or 24 months contract. You only have to give your landlord 2 months notice if you need to leave asap. Landlords cannot evict you anytime, maybe because they or their families want to move into the property, they must provide legal grounds like unpaid rent, etc…you can even take them to court if you feel it’s not right and access free legal advice. Landlords can only increase rent once per year, but if you feel it’s above the market rate, you can challenge it that it’s too much. You have a right to a pet, and you can make that request even if landlord says he doesn’t want pet in his property. Summary is that the law is trying to give tenants stronger rights, stability and negotiating power.

I bought a Samsung TV and when I checked the installation price, I got scared. I decided to save the money and set it up myself with my friend. The TV was delivered and we carefully fixed the stand and connected everything. But when we turned it on, one side of the screen was blank. My heart dropped immediately. A whole 75-inch TV! I had already started worrying about how I would afford another one. My friend asked why I was panicking so much, and I told him I wasn’t sure if we had damaged it during setup or if it came faulty. Knowing how things usually go back home in Nigeria, I feared they might blame us and make us pay for it. I even imagined it turning into a serious dispute, maybe even involving the police, cos Nigeria go definitely make u see shege and I was definitely not ready for that kind of stress in the UK. I contacted the company and explained the issue. Long story short, they replaced the TV without any trouble. Not only that, they installed the new one for free and even apologised for the inconvenience.

My first week in the UK, I went to a Tesco store to buy a few things. I picked toothpaste, body oil, lubricant and big mayonnaise. I got a bag and, after putting the items inside, the bag suddenly tore and the mayonnaise broke. The first thing that ran through my mind was: “Chai… so I will have to pay for another one again?” 😪😭 While I was still deep in my sapa thoughts, about 2–3 staff members rushed to me saying: “Oh my darling.” “You alright?” “Bless you, my lovely.” “Are you hurt?” “Do I need to ring 999?” “Do you need medical attention?” “Are you sure you’re okay?” I was so confused like… what exactly is going on here? At the same time, I felt like a spoiled toddler being over-pampered. Then one of the staff members rushed to the aisle and replaced everything I bought. I mean everything. Water first Comot for my eyes 😭😭 In those moments I remembered my dear country…. If you’ve never travelled outside Nigeria, you might not understand how much we are actually suffering in that ZOO. 😔 If you’ve had a similar experience abroad, kindly share it with us. What shocked you the most when you first travelled?
