Hieromartyr Sysoev to an Orthodox young woman who had long-searched for a husband without success:
‘I think you indeed had better accept that at present it is not God's will that you start a family. You are an Orthodox Christian; do you really have nothing better to do than look for a husband?
Do not forget that according to Orthodox teaching, celibacy for Christ's sake is superior to marriage and can be a source of far greater strength. Re-read the apostle Paul's first epistle to the Corinthians, where you will find many of the answers to your questions.
Even from a practical standpoint, a person who is hyperfocused on having a family has almost no chance of a normal marriage. It is like trying to sleep when you have insomnia by thinking, “When on earth will sleep come?”
Learn to do deeds of mercy or to missionise, and God will help you.’
–Bl. Fr. Daniel (Sysoev), Letter 57

+ EVERYTHING I DO IS SINFUL +
“There is a common misconception that is expressed in the following words: 'Whatever I do, I sin.' Do you know? This is a demonic thought. Most of the things we do are not sinful, they are pleasing to God. Thinking is pleasing to God, eating is pleasing to God, drinking is pleasing to God, loving one's neighbors is also pleasing to God. God is not pleased by that which diminishes and destroys life. And this approach: 'whatever I do, I sin' actually means that a person does not believe that God is the Creator of man. If you think about it, it turns out that way. It turns out from this point of view that God gave a completely impossible commandment. This is not so. The commandments can be fulfilled. It is very important to remember this, because such an approach, if constant, is actually very dangerous — it discourages a person, deprives him of the strength of his soul.”
