Bishop Barron had no qualms about throwing @CarriePrejean1 under the bus or standing by silently when Franklin Graham called for the murder of 72,000 Iranians.
The best he can do now is say that people of good will can "disagree" about the application of principles, when it's clear that Trump has no principles and no moral compass other than his own "mind," as he made clear to the New York Times.

The statements made by President Trump on Truth Social regarding the Pope were entirely inappropriate and disrespectful. They don’t contribute at all to a constructive conversation. It is the Pope’s prerogative to articulate Catholic doctrine and the principles that govern the moral life. In regard to the concrete application of those principles, people of good will can and do disagree. I would warmly recommend that serious Catholics within the Trump administration–Secretary Rubio, Vice President Vance, Ambassador Brian Burch, and others–might meet with Vatican officials so that a real dialogue can take place. This is far preferable to the statements on social media. I am very grateful for the many ways that the Trump administration has reached out to Catholics and other people of faith. It has been a high honor to serve on the Religious Liberty Commission. No President in my lifetime has shown a greater dedication to defending our first liberty. All that said, I think the President owes the Pope an apology.

'America' isn't a nation of any sense of the word. The 'one nation' myth is a creation after Lincoln by socialists.
Let's pretend this is a bright statement. What is the 'america' they mention. Just the 13 colonies? Ok 12 of the 13 held official state religions (flies in the face of the idea of separation of church and state as that is just what the FEDERAL gov't cannot force on the states.. a state can do whatever it wants). Louisiana was owned by France so does that not count as 'america' till after the sale? France is catholic.
Florida was owned by Spain. Spain is catholic. In fact a general in S Carolina waged a war against the indians. Killed the Catholic priests in the missions in Florida and that's where you get 'seminole' meaning 'wanderer' as the indians were wandering around looking for a place to go.
California? Owned by Mexico which is Catholic.
So 3/4 of the modern 'america' would have been under Catholic influence. Even the native americans were embracing catholicism as evidenced by Fr de Smet and US Grant having to BAN priests from missionary work FORCING prottie ministers on the natives (which the natives rejected) and the chieftans went to DC to plead their case (photos of this are still online) with Fr de Smet.
