We are halfway down the road to complete and total world financialization thanks to "prediction markets". Humans are built to find the easiest path to success in aggregate, which means we are only going to see speculation grow.
Recently I have been met with increasingly implausible yet real scenarios. Someone this weekend told me he owns over a million dollars of SpongeBob trading cards and swears that he has made a good investment. He spent about ~250k on them in total, so who I am to question this. All I know is that you're going to see fortunes made in the oddest of places.
What we need more than ever are well researched and thought out takes that give us the tools to evaluate the markets.

I sold my house last week. I’m putting every penny into Pokemon cards. Yes, you read that correctly. I’m moving into my Grandma’s basement to cut expenses and buy as many cards as possible. She thinks I’ve lost my mind, but I can’t sit here and watch this market pump every single day and not be in it. Pokemon cards returned 1,900% in 5 years. My house returned 14%. One day I’ll sell the cards and buy a house 10x bigger. People can laugh now, but they won’t be laughing for long.
