Legal Education 101. Before You do any business in Ghana: Read This First! One of the most recurrent legal problems I witness in Ghana, is due to either our trusting nature; or the informality of our business transactions One of the biggest mistakes people make is not signing anything at all. You go to buy land, and they tell you, “Just pay first, we will prepare the indenture later.” You give someone money for a service, and there is no written record. You pay a deposit, and everything is based on trust and verbal promises. That is how many people lose money; or get arrested for defrauding by false pretences. Before anything else, understand this: if money is changing hands, something should be written and signed. Even a simple document is better than nothing. It should clearly state how much you are paying, who you are paying, and what the payment is for. Without that, you may struggle to prove anything later. Once you are dealing with a document, then the next step is to protect yourself before you sign. 1. Don’t rush - If someone is pushing you to sign quickly, pause. You have a right to take your time. 2. Read it. All of it. - There is no such thing as “just sign, it’s standard.” If it is important enough to sign, it is important enough to read. 3. If you don’t understand it, don’t sign it. - Ask questions. If the explanation is unclear, walk away or get someone to help you review it. 4. Check the names. - Make sure your name is correct. Make sure the other person or company is real. 5. Be clear on what you are paying for. - Especially for land. Is it full payment? A deposit? Documentation fees? Site allocation? It must be written clearly. 6. Pay attention to the money terms. How much? When? Are there penalties for delay? Is the money refundable? 7. Look for what happens when things go wrong. Can they cancel easily? Will you lose your money? Can they change terms later? 8. Never sign a document with blank spaces. Anything left blank can be filled later. Not in your favour. 9. Take your copy immediately. Don’t leave without it. Ever. 10. When in doubt, ask for help. A lawyer, a friend, someone who understands these things. It can save you a lot. Shalom

@JairosiJonasi @Big_Mck Yes this is an issue. What I'm more curious about is that, if we are to implement the use of mother tongues in teaching and probably do away with the colonial tongues, given the myriad ethnic groups in each country across Africa, how would this play out?

As an African, to really understand how the United States or the West feels about you, you have to look humans’ relationship with animals. The wellbeing of the animal is not your concern, unless when you need it to stay alive for your pleasure as a pet or earn you money as a business venture. Some animals are lured from the bush and domesticated. They are given the impression they are not like those in bush. The same way America dangles visa in your face and tells you are different from your own people. Any feeds you throw at the animal is not because you love them, you are only feeding them fat so you can extract enough beef to feed yourself. The same way America throws aids and fake concerns at you so it can plunder you more. This is the reason they felt no remorse with the transatlantic slave trade and salve plantation practice. They literally had your ancestors in zoo like animals. They see you the same the way humans see animals, and there’s nothing more self-sabotaging than your unconditional love for your colonizers.

Curiosity is stronger than love. A reporter asked him, “How so?” “I’m 94 years old, and I got married at 23. But at 46, my wife left me. She told me that she had become invisible now… that I was working too much and I wasn’t paying enough attention to her anymore. I told her that it wasn’t possible, that I loved her more than everything, and it was true but… that’s when she asked me: do you know when was the last time you came to see me play bridge? I didn’t know how to answer, and she said… ‘It’s normal. You never came.’ And she left. So I made a decision… In the months that followed, I signed up for bridge lessons and… I learned how to play, I practiced, I researched, and one day… I saw there was going to be a tournament near our home. So I signed up and… She was in the other team. I was seeing her for the first time in nearly a year… Of course, she beat me. But I saw a feeling in her eyes that I hadn’t seen for a long time. Gratitude. So at the end, I went to see her and I told her… ‘If you agree to give me a second chance, I’ll never miss any of your competitions again.’ I kept my word. She passed away 8 years ago but… She taught me the most precious of the lessons: “Love isn’t enough, you have to know how to show it.”

I really wonder what EA will do and say to sell FC27 They can't play the ''We hear you guys'' card again, what will they say ''This time we REALLY heard you''? They can't say they are focusing on the gameplay cause they say that for the last 3-4 years and still nothing changed They really need to do something HUGE in order to bring new people and the people that quit this year back on FC Honestly UT needs a overhaul in general , is been to similar for decades and is really becoming stale I really hope EA finds a way to make the game fun again cause FC at the current state is far from enjoyable... #fc26 🙁

Ghana walks away. At a high-stakes London summit meant to shape the future of global energy, Ghana refused to sit at a table where it felt Africa was being sidelined. Citing discrimination and unequal representation, officials made it clear: Africa will not be spoken for it must speak for itself. This is bigger than a summit. It’s a signal. A signal that the era of decisions about African energy being made in distant capitals like London without African leadership is being challenged. Ghana isn’t just demanding a seat at the table.

@user30billion @scottbolshevik "Partnership" vs "pact" is wordplay, not substance. France called its military presence in Mali a "partnership" too. Result? Coups, resentment, and Russian mercenaries moving in. Training intelligence sharing sounds nice until u realize foreign troops get immunity,

@KwekuOA We also have to focus on application of knowledge rather than just memorization and understanding. Too often students say "What will I use this topic for in future?" And it shows what is missing in our education system.

This is rather simple. To evaluate the extent to which students understand the concepts, just focus on in-person tests in the classroom with pen and paper. They hand in their phones before the tests start. No more homework assignments, only in-person tests. That's what many schools globally are doing.

@EAFCconcepts In FIFA 13 player career mode, starting off at a big team like Barca meant you'd automatically be placed on loan list and had to go on loan, which was very realistic. You had to make accomplishment to upgrade your player. Now a 66 rated kid is starting day in day out.

Seeing a lot of nostalgic bias on here saying FC26 Career Mode is worse than the likes of FIFA 17 🫣 You can argue some of the older games were better *for their time* 🤔 But career mode is objectively better now 100% although it could have progressed better than it has in the last decade Realistically if EA released FC27 & took out all the additions they’ve added since fifa 17, everyone would be kicking off so I can’t take any opinion seriously that says the game has gotten worse #FC26 #FIFA17

CUBAN SOLIDARITY I watched proceedings at the United Nations General Assembly, when Ghana’s President @JDMahama moved the resolution for the declaration of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade as the worst crime against humanity. I had been invited to the high-level meeting which preceded the General Assembly meeting, but declined and watched the proceedings on television with a few friends in my Abelemkpe office. My eyes were fixed on the television screen when the vote was called and interestingly #Cuba was the very first country to vote for the resolution. The Cuban spot on the voting board told the whole story. It turned green immediately the vote was called ahead of all other countries. This cannot be surprising. Cuba has always stood with Africa at all times. It fully participated in the national liberation struggles of the African people, fought alongside Africans against apartheid and provided substantial assistance to the effort to reconstruct Africa after independence. Viva Cuba!
