@C_Corday partly why geelong and these good clubs can pick a random in the 3rds of the WAFL is cos they train and develop them against the best of the best at training and the games feel like nothing cos you’re playing against Dangerfield and Jezz at training. fuck were a long way off.

@C_Corday all this talk about the draftees playing well in pre season and lighting up the track and then you realise who they train with and against. the same senior players who put out nothing which also hinders their development.

Essendon needs to look around the league and figure out who could be to them what Luke Hodge was to Brisbane — an experienced player who can be an on-field leader and teach the young players what a winning culture looks like, because I know Parish, Merrett and co don't know.

I said it at the time and I’ll say it again Essendon should’ve traded for Jack Steele purely and simply for his leadership and to example he would lead on work rate I get it doesn’t fit in with a rebuild bye we have 0 on field leaders

Surely at least David Rath has to go. He's responsible for strategy and coaching innovation (whatever that means). If your not doing your job right you get replaced in the real world. 3 years at the club and we have gone backwards. @essendonfc Time to bring out the brooom 🧹

Training Report – 19 March 2026 Conditions were mild but very drizzly and greasy for today’s session, creating a challenging environment for the players. The focus was heavily on contest based drills, with strong emphasis on tackling and pressure situations. From a squad perspective, the VFL group separated from what appears to be the likely AFL side travelling to Adelaide. This session effectively served as a captain’s run for that VFL group ahead of their match tomorrow night in Geelong. It’s expected that an additional two to three players will travel to Adelaide as contingencies. Gresham and Farrow were the two key inclusions in the AFL squad, alongside Kako. The remaining VFL group moved to the secondary oval to complete lighter skills work. Setterfield, Bourke, Edwards, Bryan, Hayes and Ridley did solid running. Encouragingly, Ridley’s kicking is looking strong again, and his lateral movement also appeared sharp. Overall, it was a solid and focused session, marked by strong communication and effort. Hopefully, the group can carry that momentum into a much stronger performance against Port this week. 🖤❤️👊 #godons #essendonfc #afl #bombers @essendonfc

@SilentGhost263 nah i’m out on redman. he doesn’t defend, isn’t an elite user. the one thing he can do is hit a hard tackle and show some physicality and doesn’t do neither. someone needs to do vision on his defence against hawthorn.

waiting for word on Vigo and Dyson Sharps potential injuries but it sucks to lose Mason as our 2nd most experienced defender. hes got his flaws but missing that stability and flexibility down there is a huge blow.

@FootyFGPod context matters here tho. game was tight till visentini got injured. now essendon vfl had a 196cm ruckman who played his first game for the vfl squad rucking against a premiership ruckman. also geelong vfl had over 800 games of AFL experience.
