The clearer it becomes that communities can organize to block the construction of data centers, and the clearer it becomes that there is a widespread desire to see AI heavily regulated, the more you’ll hear AI-executives and AI-boosters crying that “AI is inevitable.”

We've also found that state taxpayers pay outrageously high fees on things like their car tag. In fact, analysts in our office found that Mississippi car tag fees are the second-highest in the nation. If taxpayers are expected to pay some of the highest fees in the nation, then state government needs to ensure that money goes to things that actually matter—teacher salaries, cop salaries, roads and bridges, etc. Not $5,800 TV screens.
