🇸🇻 EL SALVADOR OPENS HONORARY CONSULATE IN LUGANO, STRENGTHENING BITCOIN TIES WITH 🇨🇭 SWITZERLAND
El Salvador has officially opened an Honorary Consulate in Lugano, Switzerland, deepening diplomatic and economic ties with one of Europe’s leading centers for Bitcoin, financial innovation, and technology.
Deputy Foreign Minister Adriana Mira said the new consulate reflects President Nayib Bukele’s strategy to expand El Salvador’s international presence and strengthen partnerships built around innovation, knowledge, and economic development.
The consulate will work alongside El Salvador’s embassy in Geneva to promote investment, academic exchange, technological cooperation, entrepreneurship, and closer engagement with the Salvadoran diaspora.
Officials also highlighted the growing partnership with Plan ₿ Network, noting that 25 Salvadoran students have already participated in educational programs in Lugano focused on Bitcoin and emerging technologies.
Honorary Consul Giacomo Zucco reaffirmed his commitment to expanding cooperation between El Salvador and Switzerland, while Lugano Mayor Michele Foletti praised the strengthening relationship and the educational initiatives connecting the two countries.
Swiss federal officials, diplomats, and graduates of Plan ₿ Network’s 2026 Summer School attended the inauguration ceremony.

这十年兜兜转转，Tether 又回到最初的起点。
Tether 又要在比特币主链上部署原生的 USDT 了，这次是通过 Tether 自己控制的一家 RGB 协议上。
但其实，当年 Tether 的第一个 USDT 就是在比特币区块链上部署的，当时依赖的是 Omni 协议。
（但是后面因为种种原因吧，Omni 协议退出了历史舞台，后面有空再讲讲。）
其实 RGB 协议挺有意思的，我简单讲讲它的原理。
RGB 协议的灵感，来自于之前比特币核心开发者 Peter Todd（也是 Todd 哈哈）。
这个原理叫做：一次性密封。
它就相当于在比特币的指定某笔交易上（UTXO），放一个密封的信封。
例如说，这是 500 聪的 $BTC，但是它可以代表 10 万个 $USDT 。
这个信封只要你没拆，它就在你的账户里，代表你的余额。
如果你想给别人转账的话，你就把信封拆了，收到你转账的人会拿到一个新的密封信封。
这所谓“信封”和“密封”都是比喻，这些都是靠密码学来保障它没法篡改的。
这些复杂的密码学计算都发生在本地，比特币区块链上只处理一个哈希。
一方面来说，这对比特币没有任何负担；
另一方面，隐私性也蛮好的，至少在比特币网络看来，看不出这背后藏了什么 USDT，所以相对来说抗审查性也会更好一些。
因为它的密码学计算部分都在本地，所以理论上，当你收到一个信封之后，你可以验证这个信封的钱，从创世开始有史以来所有的转账记录。
这样的话，你就能顺藤摸瓜，确定笔资金一定是真实的、没被双花。
这样就等于两个账本：
1. 比特币账本，是摘要账，都是简单的哈希；
2. 全世界所有的 RGB 协议 USDT 使用者加一起，是总账，确保这个钱明明白白。
这个就正是比特币社区上的人，最追求的一种“既要又有”状态：多多使用比特币，但不给比特币带来额外的负担😂。
反面案例铭文那种，引起了极大争议，甚至引发了极其激进的 BIP-110 那种提议（这里也挖个坑，等有空再讲讲）
另外你可能会问一个问题：
比特币那么慢，10 分钟一个区块，怎么从 ETH、Tron，以及那些几乎秒到、免费的 L1 的抢走市场份额？
RGB 协议还会支持比特币的闪电网络，闪电网络也几乎秒到、免费。
甚至我觉得这是闪电网络焕发新生的一个重要契机。
过去闪电网络没人用的一个重要原因，就是它需要你提前锁定一笔 BTC 才能玩，谁也没那么多闲钱。
有个 RGB 协议，<0.0001 BTC 就可以开通一个转 USDT 的闪电通道，以后转账随便转，这点闲置资金，大家还是有的。

Very complete summary. I'd just add a few things, to make it even more complete:
- my motivation for working on RGB was always the future potential of "RGBTC": using it for sats, with some kind of peg-out mechanism (maybe it will be reality with some BitVM derivation, someday), I'm not super bullish on "assets", because I think they just need a spreadsheet, plus some "blockchain woo" to scam regulators,
- I would definitely add also the "CMYK" clone of the project, currently know as "Taproot asset": even if it was born as a literal RGB re-implementation, the two projects are now fairly different, with RGB positioning itself more as a lingua franca across different asset standards (Arkade assets, Spark assets, e-cash tokens, Liquid CA, etc.), including Taproot Assets for DryjaPoon channels,
- I would also include some mention of Shielded CSV, a spin-off of RGB's fundamental idea (client-side validation) adding interesting privacy and scalability features (zk compression of offchain cosignments, basically) which I always considered as the probably endgoal for RGB, and possibly working towards feasible trust-minimized peg-out strategies.

Love history, and this piece is well worth your time.
It tells the story of how RGB started, the people who built it, and how we got to where we are today.
The next chapter is about to begin with the launch of USDT on RGB. I believe this could become one of the biggest milestones in Bitcoin’s history since Lightning—bringing the world’s largest stablecoin back home to Bitcoin.
Honestly, even I learned a lot from reading it.
