@jmrphy it takes practice to get rid of that feeling. Just keep playing with him and keep smiling. Finding stuff you want to do too. Meditation helps a lot. All you need is 3-5 minutes of meditation daily, but it has to be done daily. That will keep you present longer. normal stuff

Am I just a monster? It's been 4 years since I became a father and I'm beginning to fear for my soul. The truth is I just don't like being around kids for very long. Historically, this is not uncommon among fathers, but today it feels almost illegal. It's causing me a lot of confusion and anguish. The ideal amount of time I would like to spend playing with my kids is probably about 70-140 minutes a week—roughly ten minutes each day, maybe 2x/day, taking breaks from work. My feelings of love toward them are perfectly strong, but if I have to watch them or entertain them for more than about 10 minutes my blood starts to boil. I just want to be working, or accomplishing something. I try to be grateful, but it doesn't work. It's 9 AM this morning, Saturday, January 3. It's a sunny, warm day here in Austin, and my four-year-old son is begging me to play catch in the street. I was drinking coffee, still waking up, so I didn’t really feel like it, but at this age his desire to play is insatiable. He begged and begged, so I conceded, and with a smile. I have no problem being a kind and loving father, the problem is only that I do not enjoy it. It's not that I'm trying to maximize my personal pleasure; it just seems wrong that I experience so little delight when my dad friends all claim to experience so much. It was beautiful. We live on a picturesque, tree-lined block. I am even relatively relaxed from the holiday rest. Playing catch with your son is supposed to be an iconic, peak experience. Yet for every single minute, on the inside, I just don't want to be there. I want to be drinking my coffee in peace. Then I feel guilty and absurdly ungrateful, and ashamed, when we're done. I know that when he is a teenager, I'll long to have these days back. I have all of this perspective rationally, and I've been very patient and steadfast trying to digest it, but nothing fixes me emotionally. Am I a terrible person? Or is my feeling within a certain range of historically normal and it's modern parenting norms that are off? Whether it's my fault or not, I don't even care, I just want to figure this out. Something is wrong and I no longer have the excuse of being new to this.

@BornInvestor any success finding platforms that are suitable for children?

We’re strict on no YouTube or TikTok in our house for our child. Because of the content being so unsuitable no matter what filters you put on and it being brain rot. My son loves music. He has Spotify. Turns out they’ve turned it into the others and pushing strange stuff on recs..

My Setup I trade Catalysts/Stocks in Play. Mostly swing trading. 90% Long Only. My criteria is quite specific. Chart is 1st, Catalyst is 2nd. I do not trade stocks that don't have catalysts. I prefer to trade them on Day 1 of event but occasionally will take a delayed setup for entry. I am interested in the period from the Catalyst day to the next close below the 20EMA. That is my timeframe. Everything else before and after is someone else's job. The chart needs to have a strong base, structure and be early in it's trend. The catalyst needs to be of importance and not priced in by the market. Entries are done by ORB (Usually 1 or 5 minute) or else with a Key Level/Round Number Undercut and Rally (Gap Give Go). Stop below the low of the day. I post my picks (usually 1 or 2) each day in Stocks in Play Newsletter.

@BornInvestor Entering SIPS day 1, my biggest hurdle is big gaps fading vs continuing. How do you deal w that? EG forecasts what he thinks the total move will be then based on the gap will play for the rest of the move. Do you do something similar or just take the entry and let it play out?

@jasongoepfert The way I'm reading this as anytime in the next 2 weeks, not where it closes in 2 weeks. The level seems to be $19,351. Is this anyone else's read? If so, we may get there today.

The Nasdaq 100 $QQQ closed below its 200-day average for the first time in over a year. Watch the next 2 weeks. Every time it lost its 200-day after an extended run and suffered at least a -3.5% drawdown within the next 2 weeks, it led to a bear market. When the 2-week drawdown was less than -3.5%, 1-year returns were positive every time.
