Buddhism, Folk Religion, and "syncreticism" While it may be preaching to the choir for some of you. Many of the responses to this post are correct and confirm exactly how it works. I talk all the time about folk Buddhism and how Buddhism works with the local Pagan folk faiths to the point where it almost fully synchronizes. Much of my work comes from this point of view. Yes, one can also practice their own Folk faith and still be a Buddhist. Though I understand, as with all things, there will be some differences, and in my faith I don't see the need to push other Indo-European or Folk faiths to adhere to Buddhism alone or to fully adapt and wash their own away or into it. It should be syncretic as Buddhism is an Indo-European system with a worldview that unlike Abrahamic faiths, isn't antithetical to Polytheism, animism and folk faiths. Tribal identities are still preservable as well. If that happens organically, so be it. If not, there is merit in worshipping your folk deities and living with honor and harmony with nature as much as possible, so there shouldn't be forced conversions or a washing away. Not everyone is ready for enlightenment, and forcing them into a process of it would often in itself be adharmic and would karmically lead them and yourself astray. That doesn't mean one can't be firm in their faith and protect the dharma or spread it. But skillful means is seeing the interconnectedness and interdependence of folk faith within the cosmology. Many of my Folkish or Pagan Polytheist/ Animist followers may heavily disagree with this. And I understand their point of view. But unlike the Slavic Duel Faith "Dvoeverie", I am synthesizing two systems that are alien to each orher or against one another. But an Indo-European / Aryan faith with my own Indo-European folk faith. I am not syncretic in the sense that people who want to attack the usage of that term think. I do not approach it as all the Gods are one, or Monotheism, or that you can just swap hats and change your Gods, folk, and ethnicity. But I do see the intrinsic connection between Indo-European and general Polytheism-Animistic faiths across Eurasia. Which in respect to their own approaches have a uniqueness that is inherent and beautiful. In my opinion and approach Buddhism doesn't deny any of this. It is a system within it that should be seen Esoterically and looks toward the source of these things to provide a path towards enlightenment. Not an abandoning of one's folk, culture, or faith, but working with it. This is my approach and I hope it clears some things up.

SHOCKING & CONTROVERSIAL ⚠️⚠️⚠️ Tamil actor #Arya says ; "40% of Varanasi Sadhus Are Criminals in Hiding" 🔴 His recent movie shooting took place in Varanasi. Arya alleges that while about 60% of the sadhus there might be genuine, the remaining 40% are often criminals hiding in plain sight. He said "When we were shooting for 'Naan Kadavul', we went to Varanasi. The place was full of fake sadhus. Many of them are people who have committed crimes, even murder, and are now living there in hiding. I'd say about 60% of the sadhus are real. But the other 40% are fake swamis. Many are criminals."
