My Dear Fellow Nigerians,
Haba! How did we get here?
How do we watch a man bleed for us, Yes! he literally take bullets for us and then turn around and treat his sacrifice like yesterday’s news?
For three unbroken years, Peter Obi has been on the streets. Not in Dubai. Not in some air-conditioned mansion waiting for election season. He has been moving from city to city, town to town, village to village, and country to country, rain or shine, day or night, keeping the flame of opposition alive when almost everyone else had gone quiet.
He has visited hospitals where our people lay broken by calamity. He has sat with IDPs, wiped tears, shared meals, and reminded forgotten Nigerians that they are still seen. He has poured his own money, conservatively around ₦300 million, every single month, Donations to Almajiri schools and schools of nursing across the land, boreholes, and donations to victims of disaster, as well as to his hotels, transport, and staff allowances. Do the math: that is ₦3.6 billion every single year for three good years and still counting, relentless giving, just to keep the opposition going.
While he was doing all this, they came for his family. His wife was attacked. His son was attacked. His brother’s property in Lagos was demolished. And in his own businesses, the businesses he built with his bare hands before any of us knew his name and now the government inflicted losses of over ₦20 billion between 2024 and 2026 alone. Yet Peter Obi never folded. He never ran. He never sold out. He simply kept standing for you, for me, for the idea that Nigeria can still be better.
His only “offence”? He dared to say he wants to serve this country as President. He dared to believe that leadership should not be the exclusive property of a few godfathers or recycled politicians who only remember Nigeria exists when it is time to campaign.
And now we are comparing him to Atiku? The same Atiku who used to relax in Dubai until election year, then fly in to make promises? Or Amaechi, who is nowhere to be found until the start of the coalition? Peter Obi changed that script. He brought energy, consistency, and presence. He made opposition real, not seasonal. He made politics feel human again.
So I ask you, my brothers and sisters especially those of us who still have a conscience. Why are we not zoning this ADC ticket to the South to honour this man’s sacrifice? Why are we pretending that fairness, equity, and national unity are just beautiful words we say during campaigns? Peter Obi did not ask for a crown. He earned it with sweat, tears, bruises, and billions of his own money. He kept the opposition space breathing when many had given up. He stood when standing was dangerous. He gave when giving was costly.
This is not about one man. This is about us. This is about whether we still have the moral courage to say “thank you” to someone who took the bullet for all of us. This is about whether we want a Nigeria where sacrifice is rewarded with respect, or one where loyalty is punished with abandonment.
Well-meaning Nigerians, the eyes of history are on us right now. Let us not fail this test. Let the ADC ticket go to Peter Obi, not as charity, but as justice. Not as favour, but as the bare minimum we owe a man who has given everything so that the rest of us can still dream of a better country.
For the sake of our children. For the sake of our conscience. For the sake of the Nigeria we all claim to love.
Peter Obi did not fail us.
The real question is, will we fail him?
In tears and in hope,
Yours always
Ibrahim Abdulkarim

@aonanuga1956 @PeterObi Aren't you tired of defending rubbish
English

Mr Peter Obi, you have come again with your demagoguery. What point are you trying to make about borrowing? Every sovereign nation borrows, and as President Tinubu rightly said, borrowing is not leprosy. If you must know, this administration has been borrowing to finance much-needed infrastructure, not consumption. The fact that we are receiving funds and have willing lenders shows that our country is credible and capable of repaying. As a politician, you need to rise above the pedestrian level and address issues of the day with rational argument, not emotional reactions on the streets and Twittersphere.
English

When Borrowing is Leprosy and cancerous.
Mr. President, borrowing is not only a leprosy, but a killer cancer when it is borrowed for consumption and not production as it is in Nigeria today.
Borrowing for consumption slowly eats away at the health, reputation, and autonomy of a nation. One of the major “leprosy” afflicting Nigeria today is not just debt, but debt without productivity. Debt that is not tied to measurable economic value. Debt that does not translate into jobs, growth, or improved living standards for the Nigerian people.
No serious economy borrows recklessly. Nations borrow with discipline, with purpose, and with a clear plan for repayment through productive investment.
Fiscal Responsibility Act 2007 provides that “Any government in the Federation or its agencies and corporations desirous of borrowing shall, specify the purpose for which the borrowing is intended and present a cost-benefit analysis, detailing the economic and social benefits of the purpose to which the intended borrowing is to be applied”
Cost-benefit analysis must show how the loan would be applied, how it will impact economic growth and improve the welfare of Nigerian citizens in measurable ways.
Most of the borrowings by this government do not satisfy the requirements of law or the requirements of economic common sense. The humongous borrowing so far does not show how the projects for the loans enhance the productive capacity of the nation and the welfare of Nigerian citizens.
These loans are also dangerous because they burden the capacity of the Nigerian state to improve the economy in the future, as we have one of the world’s highest debt servicing ratios. What matters is not debt-GDP as much as debt-debt servicing ratio because the latter constrains our capacity to finance the sectors that drive human development and economic growth.
If the money is wrongly spent as we do in Nigeria currently, it becomes double jeopardy because you are using current revenue to service debts that did not add to revenue or improve capacity for more production in the future.
A responsible government does not merely defend borrowing; it explains it, justifies it, and most importantly, ensures it works for the people.
A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO

PRESS STATEMENT: ODUDUWA HALL NOT AVAILABLE FOR PETER OBI’s LECTURE — OAU
The authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, wish to clarify the circumstances surrounding the proposed lecture by His Excellency, Peter Obi, at the University.
The general public is hereby informed that a particular group within the Students’ body extended an invitation to the former Presidential Candidate and two-term Governor of Anambra State to deliver a lecture within the University premises.
The University authorities were not duly informed of the status and calibre of the invited guest until Friday, just a day before the scheduled programme.
It is important to note that events involving high-profile personalities of such standing require adequate prior notification to the University authorities because it will enable the institution to make necessary logistical and security arrangements, including proper liaison with relevant security agencies such as the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services (DSS), in order to ensure the safety of the guest, members of the University community and the general public.
Consequently, given the short notice and the attendant inability to complete these critical arrangements, the University authorities could not approve the use of Oduduwa Hall for the event as requested by the organisers.
The decision was taken purely in the interest of safety, orderliness and adherence to established protocols governing the use of University facilities, adding that it is not, in any way, a reflection of disregard for the person or status of His Excellency, Peter Obi, whom the University holds in high esteem.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire is, and remains committed to supporting intellectual engagements and hosting distinguished personalities, provided that due process is followed and adequate notice is given.
Members of the University community, students and the general public are therefore enjoined to always comply with laid-down procedures in planning events within the University because we all are partners in progress for the overall development of the University.

@sowore Sowore, are you really fighting for a change or are you just fighting for relevance? Because you've never agreed that someone else can do anything better before, other than you. I mean, it's concerning.

I Declined the Ibadan “Opposition Summit” Nigerians Deserve a Genuine Alternative, Not Recycled Failure
I was invited to attend the so-called “Opposition Summit” in Ibadan, but I declined.
There is no need to pretend that the same men (and a few women) who held Nigeria to ransom for years, presiding over stagnation, corruption, and systemic decay, can suddenly reinvent themselves as champions of progress or defenders of the people.
Not all Nigerians are suffering from amnesia.
For the avoidance of doubt, our revolutionary party, the African Action Congress (@aacparty ), will not be part of any charade designed to recycle failed political actors under the guise of “opposition.”
Instead, we are committed to presenting a formidable, people-driven alternative, one rooted in integrity, accountability, and genuine transformation.
We will mobilize Nigerians across the country to rally behind a credible vision that rejects the decadence and deception represented by both the @OfficialAPCNg and their opportunistic counterparts in ADC, PDP, Labour Party and elsewhere
Nigeria does not need a rearrangement of the same broken pieces, it needs a complete break from the past.

"The so-called Ibadan summit is a ruse. It was an assemblage of individuals, not ten political parties. For parties to meet, there must be prior authorisation from their NWC or NEC. Without that, it is simply a gathering of individuals.
"If they now claim that ten political parties met to gang up against one party, it contradicts their earlier narrative. It shows that the political space remains open, but they lack the strength to compete individually"---APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru in an interview with TheNation

@officialABAT What measures have you put in place to safeguard your own citizens from daily deadliest attacks, from the terrorists???
English

Nigeria is for global peace and stability and for its friends and partners anywhere.
I am particularly concerned by the attacks on UAE's civilian and economic infrastructure. I reaffirm my support and solidarity to the President of UAE and the measures he took to safeguard civilian populations and critical infrastructure.

@PeterObi Nothing to be surprised about, because it's still the same people in the same society.

Troubling Developments from the citadel of learning.
The reason Universities are regarded as an ivory tower is because its seen as centres for pure, isolated intellectual thought. It's therefore worrisome when they are increasingly pressured to operate outside this norm.
Today, I was scheduled to be at Obafemi Awolowo University at 9am prompt to deliver a keynote lecture, before proceeding to Ibadan for the opposition parties' political summit scheduled to commence at 12noon. The invitation was extended to me several months ago, and adequate preparations had been made. Regrettably, I received the news that the event would no longer be held in the University as planned.
While such occurrences may be dismissed in isolation, it is important to state clearly that this has now happened more than ten times. This is no longer incidental; it points to a troubling pattern that should concern all well-meaning Nigerians. My alma mater, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka was not excluded. The family of one of the renowned UNN Vice Chancellor late Professor Frank Ndili had planned an annual lecture on his behalf and the inaugural lecture was to be delivered, but on the scheduled date it was cancelled by the University authority.
These are not merely personal inconveniences; they raise deeper questions about the kind of environment we are nurturing in our country. Universities are meant to be centres of learning, open dialogue, and the free exchange of ideas. When platforms for constructive engagement are repeatedly constrained, it reflects a worrying shift away from these ideals.
This concern becomes even more pronounced when viewed against my engagements across the world, where I have been privileged to speak and interact freely with students and scholars in respected institutions. In the past 24 months, I have delivered lectures in notable universities globally including Oxford University, Cambridge University, Harvard University, Yale University, Princeton University, Chicago University, University of Pennsylvania, Imperial College, to name a few. Those environments continue to demonstrate openness to dialogue, critical thinking, and shared learning, values that should equally define our own institutions.
We must ask ourselves: what kind of nation are we building if spaces meant for intellectual engagement are gradually shrinking? A country’s progress is anchored on its ability to encourage knowledge, debate, and the contest of ideas, not restrict them.
Nigeria must work towards becoming a place where ideas thrive, where knowledge is shared without fear, and where our institutions uphold the principles they were established to protect.
A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

@YulEdochie You swore in the presence of God and man , not to leave your ex wife? Yet you left and ran into another divorced woman’s arms ? What changed? Why did you leave? And ran away and haven’t looked back? Since
English

Peter Obi’s Presidential ambition is tied to APGA.
The party he swore he will never leave.
Peter swore before Ojukwu and Ndi Anambra that he will never leave APGA.
He said he will die with APGA.
He said if he leaves APGA may he never achieve anything politically.
He later left APGA.
That’s why he hasn’t achieved anything politically since then.
That’s why people used his name to win elections in 2023 while he, the owner of the name lost.
I’m surprised he hasn’t realized this.
Oaths are very powerful.
Whatever he’s doing with ADC is a waste of time.
Peter Obi has chances of being President in 2031 after TINUBU, but he can only do it with APGA.
