@UtdXclusive So what ur saying is a simple word as 'interim' was going to stop him functioning? Bottom line is they always intended in giving him the job, it just happens that he got a load of results and that gives them more of a reason to justify it.

🚨 JUST IN: On Carrick’s day one, he wasn’t told definitively that he will be a candidate - the ‘interim’ title was removed so he could function as a United manager. The support from the dressing room and Carrington has led Manchester United to feel that Carrick is the right fit. Carrick has also had a FORMAL interview - terms are left to be discussed. @ELDPEmpire1 They'll back him with players that aren't anywhere near the quality required. He'll suffer like everyone else before I'm and ultimately he'll pay the price. 1 reason why I wanted and still want a manager that will demand from players and board. But ineos don't want that.

This makes the timing click - qualifying for the UCL as caretaker is what turned “safe pair of hands” into “he earned it.” If Berrada and Wilcox are already aligned and taking it to Ratcliffe this week, it means the decision isn’t really open anymore. They’ve weighed Iraola, Emery, and the rest, and landed on continuity. For Carrick, the hard part starts now: caretaker success buys you the job, but staying in it means delivering in the UCL and the market. If Ratcliffe signs off, the next 2 weeks will tell us everything about how much backing he actually gets. Do you think United will give him a proper transfer window, or is this still a “prove it first” appointment?

🚨 JUST IN: Carrick has been viewed as favourite for the job since securing qualification for next season's Champions League during a successful period as caretaker head coach. Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox are thought to have concluded Carrick is the right man for the job and will tell Ratcliffe of their choice this week. [@sistoney67]

@UtdXclusive Manchester United hiring an unproven manager right now would be like trying to land a crashing plane by giving the controls to the co-pilot’s nephew because he has ‘potential'

@UtdXclusive @JacobsBen @alex_crook If he gets the job and it goes wrong, then berrada, Wilcox and ineos should all go to. They bought in ashworth and sacked after 6 months, extended ETH contract and sacked him, bought in amorim and sacked after 1 year. I don't think they actually know what they want.

I see a lot of Man Utd fans say no to Baleba because he’s had a poor season but would love Wharton. In the last few months Baleba has played better than Wharton he just doesn’t have the English PR!

@aadarshgupta_ @Mac5180 @MelissaReddy_ Oh shut u idiot. Nobody said anything about not liking Carrick. It's people like u that jump on the hype train and in 18 months be shouting for the manager to get out. The clubs going to give her m the job anyway and then dress that up as best in class. People like u accept it.

@v15hal18 @Mac5180 @MelissaReddy_ Oh just shut up. Play fifa. That's all you contribute here. You guys are always "not him" but you never have the"him". Always the first to jump in hating because you didn't like the guy. Always creating arguments of problems, never the solution.

Michael Carrick delivered Champions League football and dethroned Manchester United as the ‘crisis club’. It’s been bewildering to see the club’s former players knock a man who has brought wins, stability, togetherness and transformed the feel of the place. And no, it’s not like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer again. bymelissareddy.substack.com/p/michael-carr…

@Mac5180 @MelissaReddy_ Carrick was part of the Ole setup as well, so acting like he’s some different solution is strange. We already tried vibes, “United DNA” and learning on the job. Utd isn’t a social experiment. He’s managing 1 game a week and there’s still no clear identity to his football.

@MelissaReddy_ There are many managers out there that are better qualified and equipped to take the club forward. We've been down this road before with ole. Doing it again is literally the definition of insanity.. Club wants best in class, Carrick is it.

@mufcMPB Title challenge next year talk feels wildly premature. @ManUtd can’t sell a 2028 vision while briefing players like Bruno Guimarães or Sandro Tonali are too expensive. That’s the level required to compete. Elite clubs don’t hesitate they invest and set the standard. #MUFC

🚨 JUST IN: INEOS believe they are ON TRACK to achieve their mission of Manchester United challenging for the Premier League title by 2028. Some even think that a crack at the title NEXT YEAR is not beyond the team, although two factors will be crucial in determining whether that will be possible: United recruiting well again this summer and Bruno Fernandes staying. #MUFC [@hirstclass]

🚨 JUST IN: Julian Nagelsmann, Germany’s manager, is also of interest to United but he, too, is contracted until 2028 and it is believed United have not yet sounded out his camp regarding any interest in the role. [@JamieJackson___]
