1/ It’s a new year and a new Anza. I’ve stepped into the CEO role at the start of what is sure to be an exhilarating 2026. Let’s look at what Anza is cooking

wincode v0.2.3 released - comprehensive zero-copy support - derive macros will automatically mark your derived types as zero-copy eligible at compile time if they meet the criteria (more in docs) you may now replace bytemuck and zerocopy with wincode github.com/anza-xyz/winco…

If Bill Gates was alive, he would be proud to see Rust finally being integrated into the Linux Kernel. Imagine seeing the project you created getting this far.

@moonshiesty @alessandrod Tons of performance bugs (yes, in Solana), getting to 1M TPS, quantum resistance, compiler tooling of good quality, ZK with compliance, MEV, user friendliness. Fragmentation (there is no L1 that's the best in everything). So many things that I feel bad for having a chill Sunday.

@moonshiesty @therealchaseeb @solana @Zcash Solana and ZCash are separate blockchains. One of them is relatively fast (still not fast enough) but lags behind in ZK. The other one leads privacy, but is slow and has no smart contracts. If we want to be serious, we need something which has all of that and more. inb4 bridging

@therealchaseeb > Speed of light decentralization? already solved @solana > Decentralized privacy? already solved @Zcash > New blockchains are created every day/month/year claiming to “solve” something. so. which recent blockchains are solving a novel problem?

@StrategicHash Halo2 proofs take 1440 bytes (more or less depending on parameters), so they would fit in tx v1, but don't fully fit in tx v0. And currently Solana supports only BN254 curve, which is sort of deprecated.

@vaddotsol Can you elaborate? What kind of zk use cases does this unlock that you otherwise cannot do right now?

Okay, so here's all the problems that people seem to be having with Zcash: - core contributor is trans (okay?) - Mossad backdoored it because one of the co-creators of Zerocash is Israeli (following that logic, every zero-knowledge proof construction ever created is backdoored by Mossad because Shafi Goldwasser co-invented zero-knowledge proofs) - NSA backdoored it because DARPA provided funding for the research (by that logic, SHA-2 and SHA-3 are also backdoored by NSA + Zcash has had two different iterations of shielded pools since then) - not used for illicit activities (Tornado Cash, which is essentially Zcash with a smart contract attached to it, has) - not delisted from all U.S.-based exchanges unlike Monero (Monero is not delisted from all U.S.-based exchanges either) - the founders own the "decryption keys" (the trusted setup is only necessary for Sprout and Sapling, Orchard is Halo 2-based, which doesn't require a trusted setup)

@ECwizardDan There are so many things that can be optimized that show on profiles. But what I'm cooking besides epoch activation now is avoiding copies of packets in turbine, kinda similar fix to: x.com/vaddotsol/stat…
michal r@vaddotsol

We've managed to push down the memory usage of the TPU QUIC networking stack in Agave from 2.6GB to 124MB. All of that just by using the `bytes` crate consequently and utilizing its zero-copy capacilities. github.com/anza-xyz/agave…

We've just pushed down the time spent on epoch activation again, this time from ~519ms to ~337ms. That was the biggest bottleneck there and the main reason behind empty slots. There are still more optimizations being cooked there, so stay tuned. github.com/anza-xyz/agave…

One of the better signals for how far crypto has moved on from it's cypherpunk ideals is the rampant amount of anti-trans, anti-queer and similar rhetoric A space defined, in its origin, by its resistance to institutional power structures and the concepts of self-sovereign identity through pseudonymity, autonomy and privacy. It is no surprise that not only are these groups well represented in the space, but directly contributed to it The cypherpunks, punkrockers and hippies had the right idea You're not anti-establishment, you dislike taxes
Zcash 🛡️@Zcash

"Privacy allows people to think freely. There's the space inside your head where you can basically think whatever you want and be fairly confident that no one is reading your mind. You can reason about the world and reason about what should happen in the world. @feministPLT #zcash $ZEC #privacyisnormal
