There is like half of MMA Twitter that is running a narrative that Strickland is just going to “stop the wrestling”. I guess just by mean mugging Chimaev or using Dundee Crocodile skills like extending his hand to tame him. He ain’t stopping shit. First round will be rough.

That’s a very large “if” though. Yes - Strickland did just dismantle Fluffy, but by no means do I think fluffy is the same level as Chimaev, and everyone seems to have forgot Stricklands previous fight where he had absolutely 0 answer for DDP. Not only did Dricus out-strike Sean for 5 rounds, but he was also able to take him down in both of their fights. I think that people are heavily overestimating his TDD, and that Chimaev will be able to get him to the ground fairly easily. It will absolutely be a good fight, and I am super excited to see how it plays out.

If Chimaev can’t take him down or can’t keep him down, the striking and movement from Strickland is levels ahead. The cardio from Strickland is levels ahead. The five round experience from Strickland is levels ahead. Look, I’m not sitting here saying Strickland will win this fight, I’m just saying we just saw a very credentialed grappler get stuffed and KO’d by Strickland and I’m just struggling to see how Chimaev is this big of a favorite. I guess this is why we watch the fights.

I think we can all agree Chimaev at -500 over Strickland is absurd. What should the real price be?
