@JoeMightLikeTV I totally understand where you are right now. I’ve been there myself, but after pushing to break through for almost 20 years, I finally broke in. I believe that you can too. Even if you have to move back home for a bit, keep going.

My parents let me know I can move home if I needed to, but I'd have to give up trying to be a writer & get with reality. 11 years is long enough. My struggle is the same as everyone's here. But receiving an ultimatum & having to consider it: I've never felt a low like this.

The WGA and AMPTP have reached a tentative agreement. This was made possible by the enduring solidarity of WGA members and extraordinary support of our union siblings who stood with us for over 146 days. More details coming after contract language is finalized. #WGAStrike

“WOW okay so the most amazing thing just happened to me and I can’t help but share it with the world. American Airlines instituted a new policy where you have to pay to take a carry-on onto the plane. Which is ridiculous but off topic. I consolidate my bags into one and they measure it and say it’s just a little too big. They proceed to charge me $50, except they only take credit card, no cash. Since I just got back from Europe all my cards are being declined as Chase doesn’t know I’m back. They tell me that I’m going to have to miss the flight and head back to the ticket counter to pay down there. I’m pleading, devastated after a long day of travel. Then, this man walks up and says, “How much is it?” They tell him $50 and he says “I got it.” I’m astonished and tell him it’s fine not to worry and he hands the lady his card as the American Airlines employees stand in silence shocked by this man’s generosity. They swipe the card and he tells me to have a great flight and hop on board. I’m crying as I write this and as I board the flight. This man was an angel. I stop him as he’s sitting in first class and try to give him my money but he just shook me off and told me to pay it forward. My heart is so happy. There are good people in this world. Be that person for someone because I know after this I sure will be.” 💕 Update: It was NFL player, Jermaine Gresham.” Credit: Delilah_Cassidy

It's never too late to achieve your dreams: Julia Child released her first cookbook at age 39, and got her own cooking show at age 51. Vera Wang designed her first dress at age 40. Stan Lee released his first big comic book at age 40. Samuel L. Jackson got his first major movie role at 40. Alan Rickman began pursuing acting at age 42. Sam Walton opened his first WalMart at age 44. Momofuku Ando made ramen noodles at age 50. Morgan Freeman landed his first MAJOR movie role at age 52. Kathryn Bigelow reached international success when she made The Hurt Locker at age 57. Harland Sanders sold his first Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise at age 65. Mary Delaney created a new form of art at age 72. Grandma Moses began her painting career at age 76. Louise Bourgeois became a famous artist at age 78. Gladys Burrill completed the Honolulu Marathon at the age of 96 and holds the world's record for the oldest woman to complete a marathon. Whatever your dream is, it is not too late to achieve it. You aren’t a failure because you haven’t found fame and fortune by the age of 21. Hell, it’s okay if you don’t even know what your dream is yet. Even if you’re flipping burgers, waiting tables or answering phones today, you never know where you’ll end up tomorrow. Never tell yourself you’re too old to make it. Never tell yourself you missed your chance. Never tell yourself that you aren’t good enough. You can do it. Whatever it is that sets your soul on fire.

Christopher Nolan says he will 'absolutely' not start developing another film until the Hollywood strikes are resolved "it is a very key moment in the relationship between working people and Hollywood. This is not about me, this is not about the stars of my film. This is about jobbing actors, this is about staff writers on television shows trying to raise a family, trying to keep food on the table" (via @BBC)

Many lower-level writers I work with don't realize the importance of their personal brand. They inadvertently hinder their progress by not effectively presenting themselves and their life experiences... which is why I recommend creating "Personal Nuggets". 🧵

On this day in 1944, George Stinney, at 14 years, became the youngest person executed in the US in the 20th century. He was so small they had to stack books on the electric chair. Due to no evidence, his conviction was posthumously vacated 70years after his execution! A THREAD

“OKAY, I just saw the most amazing thing today. I was waiting for my prescription at Walgreens, and I noticed this man is picking up his medicines. He was asking how much they are, and starting to get nervous about the price. The total was $170 and the pharmacist asked if he would rather only get one month of his medicines instead of three. THIS lady next to me, walks up to them and says: NO, he is getting all three months and pays for his bill. I was walking out of there with tears in my eyes, what an amazing woman…” Story Credit: Unnamed.

During the filming of "Forrest Gump," director Bob Zemeckis realized he had a problem: The kid cast to play the young Forrest had a thick accent—sounding nothing like the way Tom Hanks was portraying the adult Forrest. Hanks' simple solution would define the iconic character: "Bob said, 'We got a problem here, you have to teach this kid how to talk the way you talk,'" Hanks says. "And I thought, 'Why don't I just talk the way he talks?'" The kid was from Mississippi and had a thick Southern accent. The iconic Forrest Gump accent and mannerisms were simply a result of Tom Hanks imitating the kid. Takeaway 1: The iconic characterization of Forrest Gump was a solution to a problem. Creativity is often forced out of necessity like this. The iconic POV scenes in Jaws, for instance, were also a solution to a problem: the mechanical shark broke. So director Steven Spielberg had no choice but to film the movie without his main character. Takeaway 2: One of the hottest actors in Hollywood, Hanks could have demanded they find another kid or that the kid figure out how to sound like Hanks. Instead, Hanks adapted and adopted the kid’s speech and mannerisms. Jerry Seinfeld talks about how great artists are like slalom skiers. “I always say, ‘If I’m the skier Lindsey Vonn, I don’t care where you put the gates on the mountain. Put ‘em anywhere you want. I’m going to make the gates.’” Seinfeld continues, "That’s how you have to think: ‘I don’t care what happens, I’m going to adjust to it.’” - - - "Creativity and adaptability are inseparable." — Robert Greene Follow @bpoppenheimer for more content like this!

@wgangelinab @BittrScrptReadr Biggest part all these ppl who claim: “you’re making $200K+, you’re not broke!” No other profession pays taxes and 25% commissions on top of that. $200K quickly looks like $80k. And why do none of these Blue Checks get pissed at 10 ppl making $60m to $240m in a single year🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️
