There is no Church doctrine that says it’s against the LDS religion to watch R rated movies. And even if there were, the MPAA rating system only exists in the United States. Many countries don’t even use it. I served my mission in a Spanish speaking country, and it wasn’t uncommon to visit members’ homes where an R rated movie was playing in another room, often on a copy they had bought on the black market. The facts are pretty straightforward if people actually look for themselves... Official church doctrine? No. Official commandment or Church rule? No. Historical prophetic counsel? Yes. But even that guides us to what the Church emphasizes for anything… Judge the content rather than relying non a movie rating…. And from what I can see, you, several others, and myself already do that. Besides war movies like black hawk down, tears of the sun, etc are some of the best movies.

Just saw a post saying you’re a fake Mormon if you watch a rated R show. So question for my LDS friends, what are your views on this? I just stay away from nudity and call it good.

Ignoring YOUR uneducated understanding of what HRT is, I’ve been a counselor, worked with law enforcement, and have worked with accountants/ financial advisors that work with (legal) brothels, former strippers, and even illegal prostitution. I’ve met maybe one out of thousands that states she had a universally positive experience and would choose it again. But hey, maybe you will be the exception right? Maybe you will beat the odds!
