Despite the pressure, the PUK in a March 4 statement called for a return to the negotiating table and stressed the importance of regional stability. 📌 The group’s President, Bafel Talabani told Fox News tonight: ➤ “Regime change, at the moment, doesn’t look on the cards from what I see. We’ve seen no uprisings anywhere. We’ve seen nothing of that. But it’s early days, I expect this operation to be long and very difficult.” ➤ Talabani said that “as far he has seen,” no Kurdish fighters have crossed the border, noting that most forces are stationed outside Iran along the Iraqi frontier. ➤ “I think the [Iranian] regime has been planning for this for 45 years. You can expect a fierce resistance,” he added. ➤ “Perhaps Kurds being the tip of the spear is not the way to go,” he said, reiterating his call for dialogue and de-escalation.
