Even though RSP has majority in the parliament, it is choosing the ordinance route. Again procedures are bypassed for speed and to avoid scrutiny.

@johnstanly Someone had to say it. You have to behave like the power you are. Or no one takes you seriously.

@brigarunsahgal @HappymonJacob If someone moves back, it will most likely be due to the current political atmosphere there, India still hasn’t developed the capacity to absorb its talent. A pity for a country so big!

In his statecraft advice from his deathbed, P.N. Shah, founder of modern Nepal and Nepal Army had spoken against trading and wealth creation by military. Today's Nepal Army is the biggest trader/contractor within Nepal's security organizations including Nepal Police and APF.

I personally think the question of Lok Sabha seat reapportionment (aka 'delimitation') is an opportunity for a grand bargain. Let me explain. #thread

In today's op-ed I argue that after Galwan, India–China border management shifted as trust and confidence-building frameworks eroded, exposing agreement limits and prompting sustained forward deployments. In this context, China’s expanded toponymic assertions, evident in its sixth batch of standardised place names, enhance territorial signalling, cartographic precision, and legal positioning. Though largely symbolic, these measures may intensify patrol friction, complicate negotiations, and gradually harden competing claims along the unsettled Line of Actual Control. sundayguardianlive.com/opinion/chinas…

Random study update: HSK2 vocabulary: 188/300 HSK2 textbook: 1/15 chapters done Flashcards are carrying the bulk of my learning. I'm honestly not the biggest fan of the HSK books atp, I just listen/read the conversations and run through the grammar explanations quickly.

I'm done with HSK1! I'm so excited to begin HSK2!

Funding the Adversary: Since Prime Minister Modi took office in 2014, India’s trade deficit with China — its principal strategic rival — has nearly tripled. Newly released figures show that in fiscal year 2025-2026, China’s trade surplus with India rose to $112.2 billion. By comparison, India’s total defense spending is about $75 billion. In effect, India is transferring more net capital to China through trade than it spends on the military capabilities meant to deter China. This creates a “funding loop,” whereby Indian demand for Chinese goods helps fuel the very economic engine driving the modernization of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). India’s widening trade deficit thus generates a distinct set of strategic and economic vulnerabilities, including the “hollowing out” of domestic manufacturing. Yet there is remarkably little public discourse in India on how such structural dependence on Chinese imports may be deepening the country’s long-term strategic exposure. India cannot credibly prepare to counter an expansionist rival, which lays claim to vast Indian territories including an entire state, while simultaneously bankrolling its rise.

My take: if the Modi govt is serious about women’s reservation ahead of 2029 GE , simple solution: just amend Article 334 A and go back to the 2010 bill formula that provided one third seats for women from existing 543 seats. Doesn’t need a link with census or delimitation. Can be done tomorrow morning!!🙏
IndiaToday@IndiaToday

Rajdeep's Take on Women's Reservation Bill & Delimitation Debate If the Modi government is truly serious about women’s empowerment and women’s reservation, why not simply stick to the original 2010 bill — a legislation that was already passed in the Rajya Sabha? There are 543 seats; go ahead and reserve one‑third of them for women- @sardesairajdeep #NewsToday
