In a fact unrelated to current uproars over math edu, did you know that colleges admissions offices prefer to admit candidates that have passed high school calculus?

By the way didn't the "10% rule" for the University of Texas at Austin (top 10% of class gets auto admit) also create a huge new struggling math population? Paul Tough described it in his "The Inequality Machine."

I swear every other unit I look at has something about beagles. As if I needed another reason to love the folks at @IllustrateMath ❤️

Never mind the Calculus vs. Statistics debate. More K-12 students should learn about modular arithmetic, finite fields, Latin squares, and finite discrete geometries. Why? It's fun, easy, and interesting. Is it important? Well, it's important to me because I like it.
