Large companies plan their supply chain like the Gosplan was planning the USSR. The Gosplan is gone but its spirit lives on. Fixing that at https://t.co/nuMXo2NdQs

@deadalnix For the same reason you need ski instructors, but not walk/run instructors. Snow, especially in large quantities, is deeply counter-intuitive to the human mind. Evolution didn't gave us instincts in this area. Ex: lean *forward* the slope to slow down. This must be learned.

A communist revolution isn’t a revolt against power. It’s a revolt over who controls it. You don’t get less authority. You get more. You don’t get more accountability. You get less. You don’t get more freedom. You get tighter control in the name of “the people.” It replaces one ruling class with another, only this time armed with a moral license to micromanage everything. It starts in theory with the promise of less chains while in practice producing more of them.

If you like having Indian neighbors, go live in India. If you like having Nigerian neighbors, go live in Nigeria. If you like having Colombian neighbors, go live in Colombia. It's all very simple.
Noah Smith 🐇🇺🇸🇺🇦🇹🇼@Noahpinion

Rightists want to tell you that your friends and neighbors are "replacing" you. They want you to turn against your friends and neighbors, to make you afraid of them, to provoke you into trying to drive them out of the country. It's sickening.

Delta didn’t make a mistake here. They hired economists. This is third-degree price discrimination, and it works because of a counterintuitive principle: you can charge more by offering less. The $449 tier has free seat selection, free changes, and a standard seat. The $589 “Comfort Basic” tier removes seat selection and charges for changes, but adds legroom. You’re paying $140 extra while losing two features. Sounds insane until you understand the segmentation logic. Business travelers don’t care about $140. They care about legroom on a 4-hour flight. They’ll pay the premium without reading the feature comparison. Leisure travelers will spend 20 minutes cross-referencing every checkbox because $140 is their airport dinner budget for the whole trip. Delta is sorting customers by how carefully they read. Economists call this “damaged goods” pricing. It’s the same reason Intel once sold slower chips that were physically identical to faster ones, just with performance artificially limited. IBM sold a cheaper laser printer that was the same printer with an extra chip added to slow it down. The degraded version costs more to produce. You spend money making a product worse so you can sell the better version at a higher margin. Delta is running the same play. They created a tier that costs more, delivers less flexibility, and exists purely to make the next tier up look like a bargain. The $449 option isn’t the budget choice. Comfort Basic exists to make you feel smart for spending $589 on regular Comfort+. The Google Flights complaint is the second part of the strategy. The harder these tiers are to filter, the more likely you are to just click “Comfort” and move on. Confusion is a feature. Every minute you spend trying to decode fare classes is a minute you’re not comparison shopping on United. Airlines sell the cognitive cost of not buying the default option.

delta rolling out “comfort basic” is absolutely incredible. what are we even doing here? also filtering this garbage out of google flights is a nightmare too.

What’s embarrassing isn’t that leftism gets called extreme. It’s that its supporters can’t see the coercion and contradiction at the core of their own demands. They pretend ownership itself is an injustice. Simply having something is framed as immoral if the wrong person has it. Yet those same people are expected to pay for everything. Billionaires are denounced as predators for existing, but also treated as an endless funding source for every social ambition. They’re supposed to finance society, but never act within it. Produce, but don’t decide. Pay, but don’t use. Exist, but only as wallets. That’s why the complaints about water, energy, or AI are so revealing. The claim is that billionaires are the greatest threat for using resources, while also being morally obligated to bankroll the entire system. Ownership is denied when it implies control, but demanded when it implies obligation. The same applies to their so called goals. Saving the planet, guaranteeing healthcare, enforcing living wages aren't plans. They're wishes that only function through force. Every one of them depends on someone else being compelled to work, pay, comply, or sacrifice. Voluntary agreement is never enough, because consent would allow refusal. They call capitalism predatory while openly claiming a right to other people’s labor. They condemn exploitation while defining justice as living off effort they did not earn. They don’t oppose predators. They oppose the fact that producers aren’t their prey.

@dylanmallman Yes, but most corp managers don't know that. They reproduce Gosplan-like org charts into their private companies. This is the reality of supply chain management today in large corps. I am trying to fix this. My book lokad.com/book What do you think? @dylanmallman

“this regime isn’t authoritarian; they are just fucking morons.” Quote of the day. They'd do the exact same thing with more profesionalism, everybody would be cheering. Instead, they'll alienate a ton of people and set back their cause a decade in the process.

I have a very good friend in an Asian country who is looking at this situation from the outside and they said “this regime isn’t authoritarian; they are just fucking morons.” They said that “true authoritarians know when NOT to push their citizens too far.” America is run by cast offs and wannabes and we aren’t going to stand for it.

Capitalism isn’t “when America does stuff.” It’s private property, voluntary exchange, and profit and loss under the rule of law. A central bank is a state monopoly over money and credit. That’s government control layered on top of a mixed economy. By that logic you could say: Communism has private businesses, just like capitalism does because China allows markets. At that point the words mean nothing. What the meme actually proves is this: When people don’t like the consequences of state power, they rebrand state power as capitalism and call it a refutation. Capitalism doesn’t require a central bank. Statism does.
