Today's Anegudde Sri Vinayaka Alankara from Kumbhasi, Kundapura 🌷 Vedic rules of Ganesha vigraha sthapana and Poojan during Ganesha Chaturthi According to our Shastras, the Ganesha vigraha has to be made in the traditional way as Ganesha is, the vigraha has to be of stone, Metal or Mitti (in Sanskrit: Dhaatu, Pāshāṇ or Mrutikā). The particular Pranprathishtha Mantrās that are chanted actually manifest the Prāna in the Ganesha vigraha. When Kaajal is applied during the Mantrās of Pranaprathishtha, and the Prāna of Ganesha manifests in the vigraha, instantly you will notice the 'Tej' or resplendance in the eyes. Hence the rules of daily Pooje and daily preparation of elaborate Naivedhyam must be strictly followed. Deepams have to be continuously lit in front of the Pranprathishtha Ganesha vigraha. This is absolutely mandatory as per our Shastras. Uttara Pooja or Mantra Visarjan is done chanting specific Mantrās, that is when the Prāna of Ganesha Tattwa leaves that vigraha & then visarjan is done.
