Routine immunization is fundamental to protecting child health and strengthening public health systems. Yet many children still remain “zero-dose”, missing even their first life-saving vaccine.
Under the GAVI HSS-3 Zero-Dose Programme, VHAI, with support from UNICEF, is working in Arunachal Pradesh to identify and reach zero-dose and missed children through community engagement.
A State-level Review & Planning Workshop was held with NHM, Arunachal Pradesh on 26 February 2026 in Itanagar to review the progress of Phase I and strategize for Phase II. District Reproductive and Child Health Officers (DRCHOs) from GAVI-supported districts shared updates highlighting improved immunization coverage, a reduction in zero-dose children, strengthened micro-planning, and enhanced community mobilization efforts.
The workshop was graced by Dr. Nani Rika, Director Family Welfare, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, along with officials from the State Health Department, NHM, DRCHOs, MOICs, UNICEF, and development partners.
Together, we move closer to a future where no child is left behind in immunization.
