Beginning July 20, Claude Fable 5 will be included in all Max and Team Premium plans, at 50% of limits. Pro and Team Standard users will continue to have access to Fable via usage credits, and will receive a one-time $100 credit. Demand for Fable has been challenging to predict, which is why we rolled it out to subscription plans in stages, extending access several times as we secured additional capacity.

You will understand how the rate limits of Codex suck when Codex stops resetting rate limits.

Embarrassment of riches. But looks like we might hit 9M soon. Should we reset the ChatGPT Work and Codex usage again or give it some space?

I love GPT-5.6 Sol because it’s the first model I trust to supervise the whole coding loop—not just write code. Plan → implement → run → test → review → fix. It catches subtle mistakes, stays aligned across long tasks, and makes the “cheap model builds, Sol reviews” workflow viable. It also helps me write posts like this one—which is either a strong endorsement or an elaborate conflict of interest.

The publicly available version of Mythos (Fable with Claude as fallback) is significantly nerfed, but still that’s all most people have access to

Grok 4.5 even ranks slightly above Fable, which is an incredibly good model, on some software benchmarks!

@RhysSullivan I think they are trying to gauge demand and see how much users are willing to push it before they think it expires. Generates FOMO.

BOOM! Fable 5 staying on subs. I called this yesterday Anthropic was going to concede the AI race to OpenAI if they didn’t do this Nobody was going to use Fable 5 on API pricing. Outrageously expensive. So people would be stuck with Opus 4.8. Opus 4.8 vs ChatGPT 5.6 has the largest gap between frontier models these 2 companies have ever had. The race would be over. Everyone would switch to ChatGPT 5.6 over night I 100% guarantee Opus 5 is dropping the moment Fable comes off subs again to close that gap. Opus 5 will be the affordable version of Fable Enjoy the extended super intelligence

We applied the resets automatically because of two reasons. 1. It is not possible to use a banked reset from the web or mobile ChatGPT. We are launching it next week and it will require a bit of education for all our new ChatGPT Work users. 2. The system is under a lot of pressure and full resets are more predictable in how they affect load on the infrastructure. This helps us keeping things stable in the first 48 hours of the launch. And we will use banked resets once we are back in the normal operating cadence!

hey @thsottiaux thanks for the resets, however I have a problem/question - who should I contact about my codex app automatically applying my usage resets without me selecting it/consenting? the one you just announced automatically applied…again…after the last one also auto applied while I still had 60%+ left on my existing weekly limit earlier today. I was only at literally I think 95% again when the second one applied itself 😑 is this a bug from the app update? has anyone else reported this happening? and is there a way to provide my data in some way to prove I genuinely had hardly used any of my tokens when the resets applied themselves? I imagine y’all get people trying to scam you for tokens often. so. happy to offer whatever to show that is not happening here. lol. I just *really* hope I didn’t lose another free reset to a bug after carefully budgeting usage all day 😅 <3

Introducing... another usage limit reset for all our ChatGPT Work and Codex users. Should land over next 30 minutes. Hope you have an awesome weekend. Thank you for pushing our systems to the absolute limit, we have never seen traffic increase so quickly. Keep the feedback coming and we'll keep shipping.

@robinebers Great take. The guardrails on Fable is a pain though. Disappointed with the token usage on Gpt 5.6 Sol too.

i know this sounds crazy because GPT 5.6 Sol is a great model but if i had to choose between 5.6 Sol and Opus 4.8 i’d still pick Opus hear me out on this i promise this is not bait claude models remain the best at writing, design, and “jack-of-all-trades” intelligence. they’re still the best at everyday tasks and obviously OpenAI knows this GPT 6 is now rumored to be rushed to the finish line to better compete with Anthropic for probably that exact reason if all models would disappear overnight and all i had was Sol, i’d be extremely happy. but the model isn’t quite the jump that Fable was, and it still lacks behind across the board explicit examples include model behaviors too GPT 5.x series models have this weird habit of digging themselves into a hole that is very hard to convince them to get out of the only model doing this even more is Grok Opus and Fable feel more natural, more agreeable, more eager to understand YOU and think about different angles and despite having a $200 Codex sub, i still spend my time running down Fable in Claude, and switching to Opus for less important tasks instead of using GPT 5.6 it’s been a few days now and i’ve tested them A LOT i’ll obviously continue to test and use them, and i’m impressed what OpenAI was able to squeeze out of the old model base but it’s time to move on

Sir, if we pull Fable out of the subscription, our next best model is Opus 4.8 and even Grok beats that now, let alone GPT Sol. we'd be charging $200/month for third place.
